Breaking This is really bad

I’m not saying Gebbia is better than Martinez, but he probably coulda beaten Troy that first year if he’d had a decent backup by virtue of giving Gebbia the nod for a game or two so he couldn’t transfer away vs throwing a true freshman in and assuming the Redahirt Freshman was going to agree to ride the bench….
I dont disagree, but you don't start a guy just to stop him from transferring either. And no one actually expected the transfer either.

I agree but you're still talking about 1 or 2 games difference year 1. He probably would have transferred in the offseason after he got hurt and Martinez has the same 2nd half season. Gebbia has been consistently hurt in an offense that doesn't run the QB.

probably right - I don’t think Gebbia solves Frost being undisciplined and poorly organized and ultimately ineffective - I am just curious what happened if you untethered AM and Frost

Turd has to start putting feelers out now to Guage the interest. First feeler should go out to #2ndChoice in my opinion.

I believe that the transfer portal has slightly negated the whole "recruiting is going to fall of a cliff" thing. This was going to be a small class any way, so if you were going to have a year where you could afford to not have a great class, it would be this one, but with good use of the portal, you could fill those holes quickly.
The biggest silver lining is that recruiting is already off a cliff and a drunken monkey could keep the two local 2023 4stars in the fold.

Joe Burrow us probably the best what if scenario in that regard. Probably costs Burrow a lot of money though.

Even if he would have took Burrow maybe he gets to two bowl games, but like you said he would have masked all of Frost’s shitty flaws enough to make us think he could get it done. Atleast this way we know he won’t.

His entire legacy was tied to a QB who honestly isn’t that good.

People lose their mind with the athleticism but I’d take so many recent former QBs over him in this offense.

ex: Tommy Armstrong would be 7-0 with this team cuz the offense would work with him at QB
And this is ultimately Scott’s fault, not Adrian’s.

I don’t know why this is even a narrative. Gebbia doesn’t even start at Oregon St
Because it was a close competition at QB that year, and I think Frost caused some division in the team when he chose his own recruit over a Riley guy. And frankly, I think Martinez would have been better off if he sat on the bench for at least a year before taking over.

He did the last 2 years I believe but got hurt both years.
He was a back up in 2019. Started 4 games or so last year (and didn’t look very good). Injured I think still this year, but he also didn’t win the job in camp.

It hadn't been decided but he was thought as the front runner and then hurt his hamstring again. Regardless the guy has been injured on and off in that offense. Almost certain he'd have been hurt in Frosts offense.

Even at that go with Gebbia because you knew Martinez wouldn’t transfer. Martinez was going to play at some point year one. That was the first of Frost’s many mistakes.

Sam McKewon said Gebbia was better but Frost chose “his” guy.

Not sure how Sam would know that but he posted it on RSS back in the day.

I'd say burn it all down. BUT, we have to be willing to pay big $ for the right Head Coach and staff if that guy wants to come in. Not "pay big $" for any HC and staff, trying to project that since they are paying them big $ that it was a good hire.

IDK if a truly top notch HC would come here, but they better be willing to pay out the ass if one is willing. Rebooting is necessary, but not with just anyone to replace Frost and staff. Not that I want Frost here, just that we shouldn't make a knee-jerk firing ultimately hurting any leverage we may have to bring in a competent HC and staff. This has to be handled properly, under the radar as much as possible. Probably no chance of that though.

But if they do fire Frost when he gets off the plane or bus in Lincoln, I wouldn't be upset. With Chins losing his dad a day or two ago, doubt they make him an interim, so I think the Fire Frost Right Now thing is a no-go. But I can't see why he should survive after this season TBH. He's more than proven he sucks as a Head Coach.

Gebbia was a 4* out of high school, and he’d had a redshirt year under his belt. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think he could have been better.

Who is a top notch coach? There are only two sure hires in college football. Urb and Saban. Let’s hope Turd hits the lottery if he makes a move.
