I don't care what anyone says, especially coming from an academy the stigma of the flexbone, that'd be a great hire. And IMO, we'd have a better chance with a guy like that returning us to respectability than anyone else without selling our soul.

I'd be more than happy with a Monken - Jeff or Todd, and either offense they bring to the table.

I think you’d be placing a very hard ceiling on your program of about 7 wins. Maybe 8.

I'd love Monken here. Extremely better and smarter coach than Frost.

The question if we move on isn’t is he better than Frost. The question is can this person meet the expectations at Nebraska. I’d like that answer to not be “Maybe.” Especially with the projections on the new TV deal.

Ok the army guy makes sense. I thought we were talking about the Georgia coach, which seems like an odd hire

What are the expectations for Nebraska at this point? Frost keeps losing and people justify it. I do agree Monken would probably have us bowling every year, but our ceiling wouldn’t be real high since he wouldn’t be able to recruit top athletes. I’m guessing he would be similar to Paul Johnson at Georgia Tech. I guess it’s better than was we have dealt with the last seven years or so.

Step 1. Play at Nebraska
Step 2: Get paid

I doubt Jeff Monken goes all Paul Johnson and runs the triple option. I think he does that out of necessity.

Monken ran the same flexbone at Georgia Southern like paul Johnson did when he took over plus he was at G Tech and Navy with him. I’m sure it could vary some but I would be surprised if we weren’t an option team if he came to Nebraska. I’m not saying it’s bad, but I would be worried about our ceiling if we really want to win a BIG title someday. We know he would bring discipline which we haven’t had forever.

I think he'd probably be smart enough to blend it with some spread stuff. He knows you can't recruit high level talent to that offense.

The only thing that makes me question it is Paul Johnson didn’t and he was in Georgia one of the most talented states. On the other hand he was also the architect of the that offense and possibly too stubborn to change some.

I don't think it's an unreasonable concern.

It's hard to get into GT. Makes recruiting there fairly difficult despite being in a region of the country full of talent.
