See two things is cool and totally understandable. I'm more speaking about the people who have 10 dumbells on the floor around them, a cable, an adjustable bench, take long rest periods, and dont let people use it while they aren't.
People that use multiple dumbbells. Use them, don’t put them back and are scattered all over their “station”. Then walk off for 10 minutes. Usually on their phone. Fuuuuuucccckkkkk

Season 5 No GIF by Amazon Prime Video
I have 4 children. By time I’m done, showered and ready for my day. It’s breakfast cooking time. By the end of the day. I’m not working out while they’re awake and can be around them.

It sucked at first. But wouldn’t do it any other way now. If I don’t workout in the morning. I’m a groggy mess most of the morning.

Same. Started getting to the Y right when it opens at 5 last year and it was the best thing I could have done for daily energy

My son comes with me 2 out of the 4 days I lift a week.

I teach him proper form on all of the lifts I do.

He never gets in anyone else’s way.

He never takes up any space or a machine that he shouldn’t. He’s basically my lifting partner (although I wouldn’t trust him to pull a weight off of me).

He loves jiujitsu, boxing, MMA, baseball, and lifting. So in addition to teaching him proper form we also do some polymerics on the basketball courts.

If someone has a problem with my son being with me at the gym they can take a step back and literally fuck their own face.

It 100% makes the most sense. Just couldn't get through the suck period into habit.

That's cool and good. What's less cool and good is when people bring their kids and let them just dick around all over place taking up equipment they aren't using and really not paying attention to them at all

Completely agree. Which is why I go out of my way to ensure he’s not in anyone’s way. I still get dirty looks.

Admittedly going to piss some people off with 1, maybe 2 of my old habits from my commercial gym days

1. Call it 4-5 years ago now, heaviest body weight bulk at 257 lbs, I’m 6’. I never really wiped anything down. I did once the gym opened back up after/during COVID, but that stopped after a while. Just didn’t care. I never sweated on much cause most of my sets were anywhere from 4-8 reps and I wore a lot of sweatshirts and sweatpants. My chalk use was rhe only real “mess” and I never thought it was that bad. Residue on bars mostly. Got a lot on my bag during deadlifts.

2. I definitely slammed weights. Deadlift days were the worst. Bloated up, mass amounts of caffeine, high blood pressure, rage music, and a chip on my shoulder from baseball not panning out made me want to simply be the guy no one wanted to mess with. My barbell bench was never very good, but my dumbbell bench and deadlifts were plenty heavy enough to respect so at the time I just let it all rip. Never slammed squats though, and was never one to make many noises while lifting, other than weights bouncing around

3. Never really flexed in any mirror, but was never shy about taking off my sweat shirt, into my t shirt or cut off, once my main stuff was done.

Other than that, I put my headphones in each evening or weekend morning, only small talked a hand full of people, and just got after it each day during the 5-6 year span I was there.

My wife and I started a family, I built my garage powerlifting gym, and new habits came with those gym changes. Had to chance my body quite drastically as well, so focuses have changed some as well

Built my home gym to avoid the women who stopped wearing clothes and just go in underwear.

Unpopular opinion, but I hate going to any gym that has women show up in revealing clothes.

It's not like that I don't mind seeing them, but there are now a distraction I have to make sure I'm not looking at, because all it takes is one crazy bitch to accuse me of 'looking' at her direction to start up a mess. I just want to go to the gym and workout without any distractions.
Agreed. The sight is nice, but I've actually been accused of looking when I wasn't and it's awkward af.

I tend to just stare off blankly between sets, especially if it's a great workout and the music is hitting right. Apparently one time at a bigger gym in Swimtown I accidentally did that in the direction of a less clothed girl and she snapped at me. Now if there's a girl like that in the gym I'm intentionally looking at the floor.

I'm an early am lifter, typically gym by 4:45 ish. Pretty much have 45 minutes to get my work in before I need to shower and help get kids ready for school.

Earlier said female showing her FUPA off and other female accomplished 2-3 sets in about the time I finished. Maddening. Move your ass. At least you weren't using anything I wanted to use.
That's the best time to go. While there will always be the annoying crowd at the gym, the people that go that early are serious about their workouts and not there for social hour. The after work crowd is the opposite of that: most there to socialize and take up space.

I take an extended lunch and go around 1-2 when hopefully the crowd is less.

But yeah, anyone after 4 during the week are the social hour gym goers.

I'm often bamboozled by it too. Like...you fuckers have a pretty nice gym right fucking there at the school, wtf are you doing here
Our high school has a great weight room...the majority of the kids male their parents pay for fucking gym memberships so they can never go.
