Pro tip. Don't read or listen to anything the media tells you, read certain posters on this board and you'll find out.

Next that practice portion is exactly what they do every practice and it isn't fake or fluffed. It's just the early segments of position drills and team vs air.

I'd disagree on the roster. We easily had the most talent in the B1G West when Frost took over.
I disagree there. Our talent level was in the upper part of the west, but teams like Cockeye and Wisconsin were every bit as or more talented. Cockeye and Wisconsin definitely had more talent in the lines where games are won in this conference.

I think we were far less talented than we thought or are willing to admit when Frost took over.

He didn’t do a good job of recruiting on the offensive side of the ball at all his first 2-3 cycles. That could have been mitigated with a bit better position coaching. But that side of the ball was in poor hands. Something that I don’t think anyone would have believed.

We are either going to say “When Frost fired Austin, Held, Verduzco, and Lubick/Waters is when we really got going” or “Bringing those guys with him cost him his job.” I think we’ll know which is which by thanksgiving. I don’t really have a good feel for which it’ll be.

I think this rumor is perpetuated by two distinct truths that will ultimately have NOTHING to do with football:

1. Chubba Purdy has a tremendous personality, and he's funny as shit. He would be one of the most popular dudes in any locker room. Casey Thompson even really likes Chubba Purdy. But Purdy needs to ramp up his focus right now before he can be a trusted starter.

2. Casey Thompson has an exceptional work ethic. It's obsessive and has likely limited his ability to make friends or endear himself to his teammates. He has been working with trainers in Texas and Florida most of the Summer. His daily routine includes 6 to 8 hours of workouts and drills. His diet includes no shifty food at all. I laugh hard at the SAM Keller comparisons. Keller wanted to party and bang slvts throughout all his down time. He was hated because he didn't give a damn about football. All Thompson thinks about his being a QB in the NFL and proving everyone who ever doubted him to be wrong.

Thompson has a massive chip on his shoulder and comes off as an ass because he's driven, always serious and intentional with every rep, every practice, every aspect of his game. The chip on shoulder started back in 2016-17. He loved the Sooners and always wanted to play at OU. Thompson was highly recruited and OU offered early, but they wouldn't accept his commit. Reality is Oklahoma was always in on the top QB recruits in the country. So he chooses UT. He works his way up and eventually starts. He plays well, but also plays for a coach who wants to go vertical every play, (not really in Casey's skill set) and he also has to play with the worst UT defense in history. So they kid became a scapegoat of sorts by fans. He kind of gets ran out of town. That chip continues to grow.

Thompson again wants to flirt with OU, but the coaching change and Flux there makes it almost a non starter discussion to transfer.

When he arrives in Lincoln, his arrival is met with a ton of fanfare. This made him extremely popular with fans and the media. Thompson was also the first incoming player to really benefit from NIL from his first day on campus. This rubbed some current players the wrong way from the beginning. They saw the new vehicle from Woodhouse. They were aware of his downtown loft with $100,000 worth of furniture and electronics. He had all this stuff given to him and then when they tried to talk to him, he wasn't overly nice or friendly. Hell, I would've been a bit jealous as well.

Quite frankly, Thompson is acting like a Professional who arrived as a hired gun. The rest of the team should grow the fvck up. Not everybody has to like each other in the real World.

This is a non story.
Thank you for this!

One thing I was afraid of was if Thompson was acting like he's too good to be at NU (ie regrets his decision) or if Thompson realized the NU locker room had too much "loser mentality" so he was keeping his distance.

But your post clears it up. CT is essentially approaching this like an NBA trade star w 1 yr left on his contract. And that's fine. We'll take the wins (if he delivers them) and I won't be bothered when he leads NU to 10-2 record, goes high in the draft and never mentions NU or returns to Lincoln again LOL

I agree just because we always had the top recruiting class in the west according to the recruiting services doesn’t mean we had the best talent in the west. Frost definitely inherited enough talent to make a shitty bowl though.

After the 2018 season he had a major gap. Mainly because you were going through 2 transition classes which basically had nothing to them at the end of the day. That is what I mean when I say "hollow." You had two class relatively close that you didn't get much from.

Then you compare our draft picks to Cockeye and Wisconsin and you are really going to tell me they had the most "talent" in the west? Have we lost to teams that we have more talent than? Fuck yes and it is frustrating as fuck.

If I’m reading this right you’re predicting an undefeated season and stomp down of two SEC teams in the playoff.
I am not sure WTF to predict. There are so many fucking unkonwns....they have talent, but a lot of unkonwns (OL, Fidone, Safety, Praying Nick and Luke stay healthy)

Where’s the middle ground? OC at Nebraska first to see if his shit works in the Big 10? I believe there is something to be said on success if we would still be in the big 12, in a different non realignment universe, the last 5 years. But that isn’t this
The B1G has some of the best coaches in the nation. It is a sizeable drop off from the SEC/B1G to the other P5 conferences. I think some could make the argument that the B1G has better coaches than the SEC... The SEC just has talent in its backyard.

We need so many things to go right to have a good season. I just don’t see it happening. A good season with this schedule isn’t 6-7 wins. I’m sure it will let Frost keep his job, but it will be be more proof he won’t get it done here.

I see the Kool-Aid is flowing today. I don’t know how you guys can keep drinking it, but good on you. Looking forward to Mickey talking over this shit show in six months.
If Frost is fired, I doubt Turd hires Mickey. I’m not saying Mickey would be a bad choice, but I bet Turd tries to get an experienced head coach. My bet is Mickey gets retained by the next head coach.
