We need so many things to go right to have a good season. I just don’t see it happening. A good season with this schedule isn’t 6-7 wins. I’m sure it will let Frost keep his job, but it will be be more proof he won’t get it done here.

Couple points:

1. I think we're making the B1G out to be way scarier than it actually has been. TBH out of Frost's 29 losses, I'd say a good 50% of those have been self-inflicted. NU can have a markedly better record just by stopping those game-killing mistakes (it's usually like 2 big ones a game).

2. I think our OL talent sucks (Teddy the exception). Unfortunately I think the OL has the power to completely tank our season. So that's my big fear. I think the team should go 7-5 easily, say you win the bowl game, you go 8-5 and everyone's happy. But the OL can be bad enough to get Frost fired this year. That concerns me.

Agree. Which is why it’s funny that it goes from a question about a rumor immediately to “it has to be true, we’re fucked, Frost is so dumb” without the substantiation from those insiders.

Couple points:

Amen. I just don't understand how we can be in year 5 and be so pitifully thin at OL and DL. The BIG is a meat and potatoes conference...you win on the LOS, and we just aren't good up-front. One of Frost's numerous quotes that will be part of his epitaph is "You have to get old, and stay old" to succeed in the BIG. Well guess what? Bringing in like 38% of your roster via transfer portal and recruits in one off-season is not getting old and staying old. I realize MSU did it to great success last year, but that is an anomaly. I would say what Frost is doing with the roster is more Fred Hoiberg than Mel Tucker.

If he could land top 10 classes and put a legit experienced coaching staff around him he could be fine. You’re not winning any sort of championships with the level of recruiting we have had most years after Osborne. Callahan is the only coach who gave us some hope recruiting wise, but he couldn’t put the development part together especially on defense.

That’s the thing… you are putting an extremely hard ceiling on your program with a hire like that. In the event of a search “better than Frost” shouldn’t even be a thought that crosses anyones mind.
