@Faux Sean Callahan said in the chat last night that Frost simply wasn’t ready to a run a Power 5 program. I’ve refused to believe that over the last few years but shit if that isn’t looking more and more likely. We have simply no identity other than “will most likely pass a lot” in 2022 and Frost has about 6 games to keep his job. Jesus
He wasn't ready.
He was given too much freedom.
There is very little margin for error in the B1G.
Coupled with a roster that was pretty hollow and you got the last 4 years.

I think Frost is a talented coach, but he wasn't ready to go from ucf to Nebraska without more guidance.

The more I think about it and don’t drink any kool aid, the more I won’t be surprised if Frost doesn’t make it to the back 9 of the season

I'm not saying these rumors are true, but would anybody be surprised?

We are days away from practices starting and there is no clear....

QB1
RB 1,2,3
WR 1,2,3
OL is ANYBODY'S GUESS
TE is Vokolek and whoever can still walk without a limp

Are you starting to see why the writers have us around 5th in our division? (Not the Big 10...in our division of the Big 10)

Personally I have us 6th-7th in the west because four years of shit is not an anomaly. #RunItBack #YearFive

We need a lot to go right
"We need a lot to go right".....Yes, many of us saw that at the end of last year knowing that Frost was literally on his last roll of the dice.

We discussed it as the staff was being renewed from the purge and the CFB transfer portal drama was exploding. And for a short time around then things were looking like they were going in the right direction incrementally.

But would anybody say that now?

The big QB transfer doesn't appear to be a popular guy AND might not even be fully healed from last season's injury.

Our top two returning WRs from last year are:
A: No longer with the team. (Betts)
Or
B: Not being emphasized by the new WR coach.(Manning)

Our stud TE recruit popped his knee for a 2nd time with a return status of "Hope he will be ready" and "I saw him at the gym" being the best news to share.

Our our only returning OL starter that performed at a satisfactory level last year got slapped for injecting gear.

The coach reportedly doesn't want to play the first game as it is scheduled. (Never a good sign)

What I am trying to say is that this thing appears to be starting to snowball and head down the mountain instead of resembling some rocket about to blast off.

Agree or disagree?

Where’s the middle ground? OC at Nebraska first to see if his shit works in the Big 10? I believe there is something to be said on success if we would still be in the big 12, in a different non realignment universe, the last 5 years. But that isn’t this

The problem I have with these type of message board rumors is that now with social media they actually can cause drama in a program.

We’ve seen in with rumors about coaches and players alike. It’s all in an attempt of an anonymous message board or social media user to stir the pot.

Someone posts shit like this. And then the first time Casey Thompson makes a mistake some drunk idiot will jump on social media and send a DM to the QB.

Just a really sad and ugly part of sports fandom now.

I’m not sure what you’re asking me to agree or disagree with and I also think you’re being quite dramatic.

We need a lot to go right, yes. I’m not sure I am going to take some of this stuff as gospel here and make a conclusion that things are snowballing.

We don’t really know that Thompson isn’t well-liked. We also don’t know if it will even fucking matter. I have met exactly zero male competitors in my life that would let their feelings towards a teammate affect their play.

Yes we are going to be playing new people at WR. Take a look at Washington and Palmer’s production in P5 conferences last year. It’s better than who would have been our returning guys.

Yeah, Fidone can’t stay healthy and if TV gets hurt we’re in trouble. 95% of P5 schools have that one or two positions where if they get banged up they’re in trouble at.

I 100% believe that Nebraska doesn’t want to play that game in Ireland. We are also hearing that NW is basically as good as they were last year. So if both things are true, will it even matter?

Yeah, OL is an interesting spot on our team. Has that changed ?

I’m not sure what you want me to agree or disagree with here. We need a lot to go right, full stop.

The agree or disagree was more of a question to anybody reading and not necessarily to you specifically.

I also agree with lots of what you say here. I just think that we only have a handful of things that if they go right can help us win games.....

But on the other hand we have a truckload of things that can easily fuck the season.

If I’m reading this right you’re predicting an undefeated season and stomp down of two SEC teams in the playoff.

I think this rumor is perpetuated by two distinct truths that will ultimately have NOTHING to do with football:

1. Chubba Purdy has a tremendous personality, and he's funny as shit. He would be one of the most popular dudes in any locker room. Casey Thompson even really likes Chubba Purdy. But Purdy needs to ramp up his focus right now before he can be a trusted starter.

2. Casey Thompson has an exceptional work ethic. It's obsessive and has likely limited his ability to make friends or endear himself to his teammates. He has been working with trainers in Texas and Florida most of the Summer. His daily routine includes 6 to 8 hours of workouts and drills. His diet includes no shifty food at all. I laugh hard at the SAM Keller comparisons. Keller wanted to party and bang slvts throughout all his down time. He was hated because he didn't give a damn about football. All Thompson thinks about his being a QB in the NFL and proving everyone who ever doubted him to be wrong.

Thompson has a massive chip on his shoulder and comes off as an ass because he's driven, always serious and intentional with every rep, every practice, every aspect of his game. The chip on shoulder started back in 2016-17. He loved the Sooners and always wanted to play at OU. Thompson was highly recruited and OU offered early, but they wouldn't accept his commit. Reality is Oklahoma was always in on the top QB recruits in the country. So he chooses UT. He works his way up and eventually starts. He plays well, but also plays for a coach who wants to go vertical every play, (not really in Casey's skill set) and he also has to play with the worst UT defense in history. So they kid became a scapegoat of sorts by fans. He kind of gets ran out of town. That chip continues to grow.

Thompson again wants to flirt with OU, but the coaching change and Flux there makes it almost a non starter discussion to transfer.

When he arrives in Lincoln, his arrival is met with a ton of fanfare. This made him extremely popular with fans and the media. Thompson was also the first incoming player to really benefit from NIL from his first day on campus. This rubbed some current players the wrong way from the beginning. They saw the new vehicle from Woodhouse. They were aware of his downtown loft with $100,000 worth of furniture and electronics. He had all this stuff given to him and then when they tried to talk to him, he wasn't overly nice or friendly. Hell, I would've been a bit jealous as well.

Quite frankly, Thompson is acting like a Professional who arrived as a hired gun. The rest of the team should grow the fvck up. Not everybody has to like each other in the real World.

This is a non story.

If you get special teams right it likely means you win enough games to keep your job.

I'd disagree on the roster. We easily had the most talent in the B1G West when Frost took over.
