There is no way anyone is going to compete with the Peeds and 1890 IF....IF they do it right. 1890 Initiative has a lot of backing right now BUT those backers/boosters could lose interest real quick if they don't get some ROI. It's not like they can just throw money at a kid without having the kid perform some service to 'earn' it...no @HuskerDocCo you can't get free BJs from the Scarlets in perpetuity for a donation.

The stance of a monthly donation from 10K 'fans' to raise 1.2 mil/yr is insane. Can it be done, sure, and monkey's could fly out of @Elizabeth Reed 's arse but we all know that ain't gonna happen, his shit is WAY too tight. Davison and Selig aren't looking to incentivize a monthly donor, they want the BIG money. Sure they'll take the $10, $25...whatever you want to give to make us commoners feel like we've 'contributed' to the greater good but in actuality they don't give a fuck about us.

Vince Guinta is the one to talk to about NIL and get it all explained properly... @HuskerGarrett you know anyone that knows Vince? I got to meet him at a Husker Night event but didn't really get to pick his brain...

So to be clear…..you stance is super rich guys won’t want to take ~$500k-$1.2M+ in free money from normal fans that would make their NIL company look ~$500k-$1.2M+ better with basically zero effort?

That’s not the rich guys I know? haha

No one is saying that the average fan should be heavily relied-upon to fund this thing, but it’s absolutely silly to ignore a revenue stream like that from an insanely loyal, and shockingly large, fanbase.

It’s a win-win for the NIL organization, and something that gives Nebraska an edge that wouldn’t be possible at most schools.

not saying they won't take it...I just don't think it's sustainable. 1890 will need to do some serious outreach, which they haven't so far. That is what gives me reason to believe they are just another ABM in disguise.

The biggest asset to NU is (and probably always has been) the insane level of fan support. I don't think it's that hard. You run a campaign highlighting that this is the 100 year anniversary of Memorial Stadium. You highlight that stadium was possible because of individual donor contributions from people around the state of Nebraska. You show historical highlight footage w/ a focus on walk-ons and say "you built this," and say $10 for championship no. 6 / $10 for Heisman no. 4 / $10 for conference championship no. 44, etc. etc. etc.

Or just say $100 so we don't suck for the next 20 years.

What I’m gathering from this thread is everyone has great ideas on how we can as fans raise money for the collective (tailgates, subscriptions with perks, donations) but that none of our collectives are doing literally ANY of these things currently.

This is why I question us supposedly being top 10 in NIL. Our collectives don’t promote anything and have no fan engagement whatsoever. Even if regular fans money only makes up 25%, that’s still 25% they didn’t have before. Simply relying on boosters isn’t gonna cut it and not promoting jack shit just looks bad. I can’t point to anything our collectives have done that show we’re on the right track or in the top 10.

If you're 1890 just hire some schlep at 40k/year to collect money from the poors.

Another great idea yet…crickets from 1890.

What you just suggested should seriously be a marketing campaign by 1890 or someone

I don't think our NIL Program sucks, just that it was poorly run and grossly inefficient for the overall financial resources we have. Frost came out saying we were ahead of the NIL game when it became officially an option. Dollar Dean parroted that we had a Top 5 NIL Program. Got our hopes up with these big promises but sporadically delivered. My battles with Dollar Dean about this were a bit harsh at times on my part but I was tired of him lying and over promoting ABM to our fans as it had some huge issues that were being covered up thus really hurt our program.

But behind the scenes ABM run by Frost's BFF and drinking buddy Gerrod was such a disaster. We are so lucky ABM didn't get exposed and get us in trouble. Missing money, lack of paperwork, directing $$$ to the coaches favorite player, favoritism to ABM from our coach...... and some BS I don't even want to mention. Turd immediately saw there were issues with ABM & our NIL program.

From a couple boosters wanting to support the program thru NIL opportunities I was told that Gerrod seemed very very shady and unprofessional in meetings. Also was trying to push them towards having the money go to specific players. Almost as if Frost was telling him who boosters/businesses should sign on with. Adrian martinez was pushed on them quite hard, and they were trying to do some stuff with defensive players but being heavily directed to Martinez. They came away feeling like Frost had directed Gerrod on everything and wanted to have one shining example for him to tell recruits about the NIL opportunities thus have Gerrod load up his boy Martinez. They literally put their checkbooks away because it felt too scammy.

I have concerns about Matty D as he has been part of the problem behind the scenes with our football program over the last 5 years. Hopefully Turd has a good handle on this because I feel we have the financial support from fans/boosters/businesses to easily have a Top 15-20 NIL program. Our whole state would support it.

My 70 yr old sphincter muscles have zero interest in this monkey experiment. Hope that helps……😘🖕

Look at what Oregon did yesterday...how much money is in their NIL collectives??? Phil Knight might be bank rolling them but they've got other boosters chipping in too. Oregon may be 2023 version of TAMU

Division Street, AKA Phil and the boys are bankrolling this thing. Living here in oregon I have a few friends connected to the program. A buddy of mine that played there and runs the top 7v7 program in the region said Phil is going to do whatever it takes to win a title before he passes away. Obviously we are seeing that first hand. I mean dude was throwing around millions in the political races this past November so it doesn't surprise me what he would do for the Oregon and Nike brand.

If they actually advertise it and throw in a couple cheesy perks they'll get 10k "subscribers" easily. I bet if they give some small incentives (t-shirts, pregame parties?) and then ramp it up for people giving $25/month, $50/month, etc with better incentives (meet and greets?), they'll clear way more than a million.

But to your larger point, we probably can't count on small donations accounting for more than, I don't know, 20 or 25% of total NIL funding, and even that is probably a bit optimistic.
The way they'd get money is advertising a specific target like a "Dylan Raiola gofundme" or something. That'd get $10m & I'm not joking. Unfortunately I'm sure that is against NIL/NCAA rules.

I honestly don't think NU fans want swag. They already have a shit ton of NU swag in their houses. I think they just want to know where their money is going. You donate to the facility push, you can see the fruits of your donation.

NIL is tougher bc you have no idea where your $$ is going. If you ran more focused "OL in TX NIL drive" or "WR/DB in FL drive"... you'd get donations. Problem is I'm sure that's illegal. I don't need someone to go to the trouble of shipping me a shitty NU t-shirt that won't fit etc and I'll never wear.

Also these collectives have untrustworthy guys like Matt Davison running them. So the avg fan knows that $$ is getting pissed away somehow. Kris Brown is a huge improvement.

It's paying them for their name so not sure why you wouldn't be able to advertise it as a specific person. I think the battle is what are you paying them for. So the easiest would be something like a subscription to Dylan Raiola monthly access to videos or some stupid shit like that.

If he didn't come here though you aren't getting your money back.
