Is the nuclear-level sunshine causing massive amounts of weeds to pop up in everyone else's yard too? I did the pre-emergent at the beginning of the year, and have done one application each of weed-n-feed & a standard fertilizer over the last couple months. Been watering regularly to keep things healthy & green, but every year when we have a stretch like this, the weeds go absolutely nuts, even with a pretty healthy & thick yard.

Almost all the weed sprays & treatments say not to apply in these types of temps, and I don't want to add stress to grass that's getting scorched. Do all you yard godfathers just ride it out & wait a few weeks to treat anything, or what's the best move here?
Nothing likes hot ass weather like weeds your whole damn lawn could burn up and the weeds would still be going strong. Probably have to spot spray or pull them.

I've seen a bunch of ads for these kinds of things. I don't know if they work or if they are even made worth a shit though.

You can spot spray early in the morning or later at night when the temps are below what the label tells you is the max.

My wife bought one and i thought it was a complete joke. It really works-very easily- and pretty decently made. A friend has one also and he said the same thing.

I have something similar, but it also has a push core that pops the weeds off the blades. I love it! I've had it for 3 years and works like the day I bought it.

Anybody got the secret sauce to getting rid of Nutsedge? Second summer dealing with it, really the only legitimate defect this far into summer. Spent some time pulling individual roots outta the ground the other night but man if there was a more efficient solution. Got 3 total patches along the sidwalks that just look super tacky when the grass grows for a few days.

I live in Papillion and have Fescue Grass.

We have a ton of creeping Charlie in our backyard and are generally looking to get a nice stand of turf back there. Got a quote for sodding the entire thing and it was $9k, so I’d rather not do that.

Any recommendations on lawn care specialists who could help us get our lawn in good shape or at least create a program for us to follow? We’re in Omaha in the rockbrook area. Thanks!

FWIW, I spent hours pulling that stuff (making sure to get roots) last year. Area between sidewalk and street had a ton. Overseeded in the fall, and have done just normal whole yard application schedule this year.

It's like 80% less this year. Probably wasn't the most efficient way to do it, but it did help a lot.

As long as you get all the tubers out, you’re good. The problem is most people don’t do that.

We had a drought in spring that was murder on my lawn. I'm just letting it go for now and I'll decide what I want to do with it in fall...

So yeah I had two small little probably 2x2 spots in the backyard right next to the A/C that I pulled the other night. Certainly going to keep an eye on those, maybe rough the dirt up and toss some fresh sod down on them and let the sprinklers rain magic on em.

Then I have 3 total spots in that sidewalk space between the sidewalk and road that I had last year that I don't remember doing anything with. So that is most likely why they're back this year. When I was pulling the weeds the other night, I was very particular with each one and making sure, atleast I'm almost positive, pulling every bit of them outta the ground. It looks like I got it all atleast. Still going to buy the Sledgehammer, but until it gets here I think pulling them now atleast makes the spaces look physically better, then spray from there. Plus, kid has fun helping me or running around with the dogs in the yard. So, there's that excuse lol

Better raise those mower blades. It’s about to get hotter than a two dollar pistol.

Your first picture is goosegrass, which is similar to crabgrass. Speedzone will work on it, but you will probably have to use multiple applications since it looks pretty mature. Tenacity should also work, or something like roundup for lawns. Straight roundup would also work if you brushed it on just the weed and not any surrounding grass.

The second picture kind of looks like bindweed. Should also be able to control it the same way.

I can’t really tell what the 3rd and 4th pictures are, but regardless, the same products should work. You may just have to do multiple applications to really kill it all.

The last pic may have some Bermuda grass mixed in. Hard to tell for sure.
