Yep, just make sure they do your whole yard. My mom had the "Good" local company spraying but they weren't spraying the backyard she busted the little shit they sent out on her cameras then she went down to their store and ripped some ass. 🤣Best decision I ever made. Price difference is inconsequential.
Yeah I’m tired of spending $500-$600 just in product and I have no idea if I’m applying the right amount or the right stuffBest decision I ever made. Price difference is inconsequential.
Fertilizer question. So I used Scott's 4 step system from Ace this year, instead of going with my original Grass Pad plan. Ace had a deal that was cheaper than Grass Pad, so I jumped. Maybe it's the sprinkler install in June, and my issue with the vole right now, but boy the yard as a whole just doesn't look as good as last year. But it could just be my brain thinking it's the fertilizer instead of the mole and new sprinklers.
Anyone know if Grass Pad stuff is better than regular Scott's or if I'm being paranoid?
Grass pads program has 6 applications.I like Grass Pad but I can't imagine the fertilizer is that significant of a difference.
I got mine from yard mastery this year and was very happy with the results...You would be surprised. The stuff you get from the hardware stores has a lot of filler in them. On our old house, I had always gotten fertilizer from Home Depot. Once I started using commercial fertilizer, our yard looked 10 x's better.
You could also do Scott's in 6 applications. Pre emergent in the summer after the first application is broke down is good.Grass pads program has 6 applications.
Scott's has a 4
- Pre emergent
- Weed and feed
- Pre emergent
- Renovator
- Renovator
- Snowman
So if you did their full program, you got probably 2lbs/1.5lbs of nitrogen per 1k square feet in a year.
- Prevent
- Weed and feed
- Summerguard
- Winterize
If you did 4 step vs 4 step they should be fairly similar.
Yeah I was just comparing the programs they advertise. You could also do Scott's in 6 applications. Pre emergent in the summer after the first application is broke down is good.
Could do two weed and feed or summer guards too.
I will probably go back to Grass Pad in the spring time. The heat we had a few weeks ago didn’t help anything, but I just didn’t have the same amount of weeds randomly pop up last year. I will say a good portion of the weeds I did have were along the side walls, which didn’t get nearly as much water the last few years as it does now, but just trying to find the right formula. I did spray a couple weeks ago after it cooled down some and that did make a big difference so it looks much better. But, planning on a big 2024 for the yard. Feel like I finally have the tools the big boys gotGrass pads program has 6 applications.

No clue on what the iron difference would be between the two. I know Scott's usually doesn't have a ton of iron in their fert
Holy fuck my brain read “right before fire Frost” lol JesusJust did my lawn today. Going to try to kill the weeds dead right before the first frost so I don't want want to pass out and cry next year from the weeds
That’s the PTSD kicking in. We all have itHoly fuck my brain read “right before fire Frost” lol Jesus
Is this legitimately effective though? Might give it a shot if soJust did my lawn today. Going to try to kill the weeds dead right before the first frost so I don't want want to pass out and cry next year from the weeds
I have no idea. Lots of people say lots of things. I've read/have people tell me that it works, I'm sure people say it doesn't.Is this legitimately effective though? Might give it a shot if so
It would make sense that it would work. Like double weed murder in a way.I have no idea. Lots of people say lots of things. I've read/have people tell me that it works, I'm sure people say it doesn't.
Yeah, been thinking about what my plan will be next year, but I have been pretty happy with the products I got this year from Yard Mastery (Allyn Hayne aka Lawn Care Nut on youtube his company).I will probably go back to Grass Pad in the spring time. Double Dark Cocktail sounds like it will 100% give me Double Dark Cancer brotherYeah, been thinking about what my plan will be next year, but I have been pretty happy with the products I got this year from Yard Mastery (Allyn Hayne aka Lawn Care Nut on youtube his company).
Probably do something like this...
- First app Soil temp hits 55
- April
- Blanket spray weeds https://yardmastery.com/collections/herbicides/products/broadleaf-weed-control-triad-select™-3-way-herbicide
- Then use their GreenePunch at the minimum rec usage (16 oz per 1k). https://yardmastery.com/collections/fertilizers-liquid/products/18-0-1-greenepunch-liquid-fertilizer
- Soil temps hit 70
- June
- This at 5lbs/1k https://yardmastery.com/collections/fertilizers-granular/products/16-0-0-double-dark-with-6-iron-and-bio-nite™
- This right here gets about the most amount of Iron down of any fert short of Milorganite. I will try to time this up with the 4th as we always have people over
- July
- https://yardmastery.com/collections/fertilizers-granular/products/7-0-20-stress-blend-with-bio-nite™
- Double dark cocktail
- This shouldn't push a ton of top growth given how we are usually in a high lawn stress time right here, but should still maintain the dark green color.
- August
- September
- Overseed with https://grasspad.com/estate-mix-bluegrass/
- Starter fert with liquid aeration https://yardmastery.com/collections...s/16-21-2-greenepop-liquid-starter-fertilizer
- October
I like how in depth that is. Certainly didn't get that detail from ACE in the springYeah, been thinking about what my plan will be next year, but I have been pretty happy with the products I got this year from Yard Mastery (Allyn Hayne aka Lawn Care Nut on youtube his company).

I have a problem that when I go down a rabbit hole of a hobby I go all out.I like how in depth that is. Certainly didn't get that detail from ACE in the spring
Me too. I however have very little knowledge about what I'm doing fertilizer wise so any average salesman could sell me almost whatever they wanted to, until the price gets too high lol. This one I'll need to do research on while the snow is on the ground.I have a problem that when I go down a rabbit hole of a hobby I go all out.
