I am also not a fan of Satterfield. Not sure of the identity of this offense yet.

I wonder if Matt Rhule would ever take a look at Kevin Johns as OC.

He's currently an analyst at OU, was OC at Duke with Elko. Not sure why Elko didn't take him a long to College Station, my guess is because A&M insisted on a splash hire at OC.

He runs a style that I think Rhule would like.

I think the main issue with the offense is thta we can't establish the run well enough. If we get 0 to 2 yards on first down, it puts us off schedule. 3 to 5 yards on a first down run is on schedule. But often we don't get much on first down runs, which then means we face 2nd and 3rd and long. Forces the play calling hand.

In 2nd halves, Rhule and Sat want to be able to grind longer drives and burn clock while scoring a couple TD's. Since FG's are basically out the window, it really means just TD's are our scoring option. Defenses know this, which also makes play calling tougher since we can't call plays knowing we can get a FG if need be.

The one time we went deep down the sideline it looked like it was going to be a perfect pass coming right in the direction I was sitting (thanks again @nja13).

Then the wind gust and it went 20 yards out of bounds. I swear it moved 10 feet sideways in the blink of an eye.

The wind was the reason that Rutgers WR dropped the wide open TD too. Wind noticeably pushed the ball to the sideline and it hit him in the shoulder/head.

I vividly remember Dylan's pass. Sitting in South, I was dumbfounded at where that ball ended up at and, like you said, how it ended up spinning. I think the wind played with his head more than Rutgers did.

Honestly, I saw it as a situation where, given where we were on the field, if we happen to get a chunk of yards on a safe run play then we go for it on 4th down. When we didn’t, then we made the decision to punt.

Possibly some of both answers. I doubt it was them trying to get 11 yards.

Could be Dylan seeing something and checking to that play as well.

Man, this couldn't be further from the truth... Rutgers game alone, there were some really nice plays called by Satterfield. Some worked and some, Dylan got a little spooked on and didn't make the right read, for the first time. Great example is the last play we ran in our last possession against Rutgers. Dylan had Barney for the first down coming out of the backfield on the jet sweep motion. He didn't pull the trigger on it and continued to look downfield and ended up taking the sack.

lol. No creativity is kind of hilarious. Was the Bonner TD not creative? The screen to Rahmir? He was kind of handcuffed in the second half with the starting field position and his freshman QB allowing the wind and other variables to play with his mind.

Give Satt some credit. He schemed up some good plays on Saturday. Old Man Whipple ran the ball because he felt like he probably had to. That dude had no interest in running the ball, I'll give you that.

We obviously leaned on the passing game against Purdue and Illinois since their front isn't great against what we want to do in the run game. Rutgers with the wind is going to skew a small sample size. Notwithstanding that we have two new linemen since the start of the year, I think we're going to look just fine in the run game the rest of the year.

The offense has been pretty efficient most of the year. Our biggest problem is just that we've been lacking a bit in explosiveness. I don't know that we will ever really have a home run threat in our run game this year, but passing game explosive potential obviously there.
