did MR bring in Glenn Thomas for OC next year or IF he thinks he’s going to make a change
I took it as "there's no way Dylan is coming here unless you have a top level QB coach" type of hire. I can't imagine we would have gotten Dylan to come here w Satterfield only as your offensive/QB 'guru'.

I'm actually hoping Dom Raiola can add a little pressure on Rhule to get rid of Satt this offseason.

Yeah I'm not going to go find the posts, but there were quite a few people who were concerned about it. I know there are staffs at good programs who are pretty green but today you were top down embarrassed so I think it's time to start discussing
IIRC the general consensus was: OC/DC are qualified P5 coordinator hires. DC may be an elite coordinator hire. The rest was a "who?"

Having watched Frost's initial JV staff get worked by the B1G, everyone was a little skeptical of that many younger guys.

2 counterpoints at the time:
  1. Most were willing to give a proven HC the benefit of the doubt on his hires
  2. We were told that Rhule wears out his assistant coaches on the recruiting trail, so you weren't gonna see a bunch of 20 yr guys, bc they can't hack it vis a vis the amount of hours they were expected to put in (have to be OOU)

This needs to be revisited though because our coaches got THOROUGHLY outcoached by the Illinois staff 4 weeks ago. And then they just got bludgeoned to death by Indiana's coaches. The Illinois one was actually worse bc Illini aren't as good as Indiana.

Then you add that to last year's losses to Maryland, Wisconsin, Cockeye, Michigan St and Minnesota.

We were willing to cut Rhule slack in 2023 bc we didn't have a real QB. But Rhule needs some coach vs coach victories in these final 5 games.

i think some of us brought it up when rhule was the hire to begin with. but were met with aggressively unhinged window licking optimism.
A good portion of us were skeptical.

The point is to attempt being somewhat analytical when passing judgement. Any retard can sit and say they want a staff made up of top-3 coaches by position.

Is the offense an improvement over last year which was a totally different offense concocted during the season? Is it getting better or worse as the season progresses?

I think the offense is getting worse every week. I also think it’s year 2 (year 1 in this offense). If we can upgrade to a homerrun OC I’m fine with that.

Agree. His play calling was decent beginning of the year but lacked identity. Has gotten significantly worse.

My issue at his time of hire was his track record showed he was not top 3 but not even top 30. It obvious hindsight is 20/20 but it irked me that Rhule thought he was going to out maneuver the B1G with 2nd tier talent.

Satterfield lost us that game

Bump again unfortunately
I know.

When I saw it earlier this year, I was hoping that things would progress.

But Satt just cannot get the playbook or playcalling down. And the opposing D's know how to scheme against it.

Have a feeling he’s going to be relieved of his play calling duties at half…. We can only hope
