Oh no, we're critical of an OC who can't figure out how to design an offense and make adjustments that allow the best players to score points in two full halfs during a game. Yes, that's very tatery.
I mean besides the fact his offense is well designed and I’m going to assume neither of us know enough about football to talk about adjustments without talking out of our ass, other than that you have a good point.

I feel like the offense is getting too fancy at times and the WRs fuck it up, especially when they are running rub routes and getting called for setting picks to get WRs open. It seems like we have 2 or 3 of those penalties each game. Not sure if it’s an execution problem or coaching problem.

I feel like they did this at a pretty good clip in every game before Buttgers, no?
Against Purdue we didn't have any trouble moving the ball in either half. Same against Illinois.

Rutgers and Colorado seem to be the games where we were actually stalled. I wonder how many times we targeted Banks in those halves?

How can something be well-designed when it works only half the time? When you see other offenses put up points through two halves on the opponents we have played and then watch the halves of our offense, then something is completely off.

UTEP, Colorado, UNI, Illinois, and now Rutgers have all been games where we have been lackluster in the 2nd half in terms of putting points up. And now that is a pattern.

Lack of execution

I wanted Satt gone after last year. In hindsight, Sims and HH were the reason our offense was so dookie. The playcalling has been great! Dylan has freshman jitters, our receivers struggle with drops/physicality and our OL is not good at run blocking. Those are the bigger issues IMO.

With that being said, we're still 5-1.

I'm not in love with Satt, but even with the frustrations this year, he's looked significantly better than last year. Good players will do that for you.

Dylan is making Satt look a lot better than he really is imo, even tho Dylan seems to be hitting the freshman wall now.

I will say I appreciate Satt trying to establish a run game against Rutgers. The Oline issue has been stated, but we also just dont have a good RB that can make a move after hitting a hole (the limited time there is one) and shows break away speed. Need better horses.

Take 5-1 all day.

Bonner’s TD was incredibly called.
I think people are not freaking out about how damn good of a call that was nearly enough.

To have one of our most reliable plays inside the 10 be that jet sweep to Barney, which after a while becomes a VERY easy play to diagnose and blow up, be used to setup a 2nd "sweeper" right behind him like that. Incredibly innovative, different, and validating to both of those plays. You literally have to honor both on any jet sweep we run now.

He's not perfect, he refuses to live on the things that work best for us, but damn it he has gotten so much better as we've gotten guys for him to use.

My take on Satterfield is this: He has to be a hell of a scouter/game planner/organized and detailed OC because his play calling has always been questioned and his ability to adjust seems to be lacking. There's a place for him - and like has been mentioned, play calling can always be handed off. I just believe there has to be something that we don't see that he brings to the table to get where he's gotten. That just might not be the part of the job that we see

What does "hitting the freshman wall" mean in regards to Raiola's play this season?

Perhaps our players are as distracted by your avatar as I am. Cot dam!

how much of the second half play calls is not dictated by Rhule scared to keep the lead and run the clock?

as well, I would be frustrated if I was raiola. satts known for vertical game and it seems like our receivers get open very little or give up on the routes and this is limiting our passing lanes drastically and making it easier to scheme against us.

Not making the right decisions and not delivering as accurate of throws, which can get to one's head if not tenured, leading to automatic check down throws and more broken plays.

He's an all-time talent I'm not saying he'd bad. He's just young.
I've said since the Illinois game, he seems to be holding onto the ball too long and it's like he's too afraid to throw an INT, when guys are open. Almost like he's trying to be too perfect or something, I'm not sure.

TLDR: I'm not calling you out just curious what you meant when you say he's hit the wall. I think he just had a bad game Saturday on a day it'd suck to throw the ball.

I think a lot of what we're seeing is Raiola learning to deal with pressure in the second half of games while trying to protect the football above all. If that falls under "the freshman wall" then I agree. I'd just disagree on the poor decision making portion. I think that's where he's excelled the most so far imo.

He's pretty lights out in the first half of games. My guess is he sees the majority of pressures in the second half. Nebraska is usually playing with a lead or tied heading into the second half. You'd expect defenses to be more aggressive. Nebraska's TOP in the second half of games is also a good deal less despite them having good TOP overall.

Their scoring efficiency is not great. What the reason is I haven't really figured out. My hunch is if you add in the points from missed shots this season they're probably pretty good. At a minimum I'm adding Neyor's score that was ruled an interception, Lindemyer's score vs Illinois, and the pass to Rahmir in flat vs I believe Illinois. Add those points and the team jumps from outside the top-60 in ppp to a top-50 unit. Some of that is Raiola being a freshman, most is just bad execution by the team.

Our whole mantra this off-season was "stop fucking up" I'm sure Dylan's being intentionally careful with the ball because that's what the coaches are preaching this year. Win the turnover battle and the D should keep you in it for most of the games. Also there's probably a little bit of adjusting to college game speed that's going on.
