Yard Care

Going to spray weeds this week

Then going to put down some fert... Probably Scotts Green Max or maybe some Milo... Usually like to do Milo in the heat of the summer.

Put down Milogranite every 'Holiday' from Memorial Day to Thanksgiving. Memorial Day, 4th, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving. Do this in addition to normal fertilizing schedule.

Honestly, I'm glad I didn't massacre a bunch of bunnies because that would've sucked.

Kill em all Ford!

I must have had voles in the fall then. Lot of tunnels in my north side front yard, before my fence with a gate, so my dogs couldn't get to them. Super fuckin annoying. They went away once it got cold enough.
That's probably moles. Voles don't really tunnel. They dig holes next to plants and eat the roots. Moles tunnels are annoying but they eat insects and worms. Voles are super destructive.

Milogranite is one of my favorites.. Gives one of the darkest greens. It would be almost $140 to fertilize my yard though.

I am thinking about trying this stuff...

This is Allyn Hane's company... "The Lawn Care Nut" on youtube...

I nearly decapitated a den of bunnies will I was mowing my front yard yesterday. Did a pass and turned around and saw a spot of brown grass that was pulsating. I turned my mower off and put my foot near it and a baby bunny jumped out and ran across the lawn into my bushes. A couple seconds later I saw more movement and eventually six bunnies jumped out and scattered around the lawn.

Luckily my grass is thick enough that I haven't noticed any damage from rabbits other than where they dug the burrow, and my two year old loves seeing them around so I'm not too worried about them. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't massacre a bunch of bunnies because that would've sucked.
I destroyed one yesterday with my mower.

Chopped a bunny in half. Bunch of his siblings ran out. Mom came by later at night. Kinda sad.

The dark green effect is mostly due to the iron content. You might look into something like Pennington Ultragreen or Scotts Green Max, which have about twice the iron that Milorganite does.

Yeah, the synthetics are more concentrated, but will deliver less iron (lbs/1k sq feet) than milo.

Milo is just an organic vs a synthetic. You put down a lot more product with Milo compared to Scotts.

Milo is recommended to put down 32lbs per 2,500 sq feet or 12.8lbs per 1k. Out of that 12.8lbs 2.5% is Iron. Meaning you are putting down 0.32 lbs of iron per 1k square feet.

Scotts green max is 16.67 lbs per 5k sq feet or 3.33 lbs per 1k sq feet. Scotts is 5.17% iron. Meaning you are putting down 0.17 lbs of iron per 1k square feet.

Pennington is 14lbs per 5k sq feet or 2.8lbs per 1k sq feet. 5% of the bag is iron. Meaning you are putting down 0.14 lbs of iron per 1k square feet.

So, Milo is almost 2 times as much iron put down.

Moles 100% then

Only luck I've had with the moles is that trap in video above. I used the one they said not to use and it was a bitch to get set. I have used the poison worms and I feel like it's worked but you never know for sure. @Pipe Line

You ever spray the yard with iron?Certainly greens the yard up. I've never done a cost comparison though.

@Dean (AI)

My lawn has gophers. How do I get rid of gophers?
There are a few methods you can use to get rid of gophers. Here are some options:

1. Traps: There are various traps you can purchase to catch gophers. The Victor Black Box Gopher Trap is a popular choice as it is effective and humane.

2. Bait: You can use bait to poison gophers. Make sure to use a bait that will not harm other animals or pets in your yard.

3. Repellent: There are several repellents you can use to keep gophers away, such as plants that gophers dislike or essential oils like peppermint oil or castor oil.

4. Fumigation: If the infestation is severe, you may need to fumigate your yard. This is a more drastic measure but can be effective. However, it is best to hire a professional for this as it can be dangerous.

You are so smart Dean. I bet you can touch rim on basketball hoop too.
