What 4 teams get in?

Scrolling through articles this morning and I'm surprised that there is a number of media claiming the SEC should be left out.

In the past their strength of teams and non-conference play held them up but that doesn't exist this year. It's finally time to be penalized for that.

People thinking you are good shouldn't be enough. You have to have some sore of resume and they don't have it this year.
Good point. And one I hadn't thought of.

I just don't want to watch FSU get boat raced by Michigan. If you're going to penalize the SEC for the weak schedules, put Texas in so that we actually have a decent match-up in the 1st round.

I'm sure it was covered earlier in the thread, but isn't it allegedly the best teams, as opposed to the most deserving.

How do you define best teams? There has to be some actual data behind that beyond who people think are the best teams.

Look how many times the 1 seed hasn't won the college football playoff.

I don't have a problem with it. As long as everyone knew the rules and philosophy prior to the season.

If the "best team" mantra suddenly got brought up this week - the heck!
I think they always say it's the "best teams" because it helps to exclude G5 easily but this is the first year the media folks are full potatoing the idea of leaving out an undefeated P5 team

Florida St should get in based on being a13-0 P5 conference champ. But even if you take a pure 4 best teams approach, I'm not even sure Alabama is a better team. If we think back all the way to one week ago, they needed a miracle to beat a dogshit Auburn team that had just lost to New Mexico State by 21 points at home. South Florida played Western Kentucky week 1 and Alabama week 3 and their bigger loss was to Western Kentucky. They were #8 for a reason.

1. Michigan
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Florida St
5. Alabama
6. Georgia
7. Ohio St

Alabama will be #4 and they will win the natty. 💯

IDK, but I'd like to think the committee has a definition of "best teams" and they're transparent in sharing some of the data. Then again, when has college football held itself accountable. Looking at you B1G officials.

If I was guessing, it's a combination of data, computers, AI and human thought process.

If we're being honest, even with a loss yesterday Georgia is still one of the best four teams.

But they have no shot of getting in.

Also unless an undefeated team comes out of the mountain MAC or conference USA they shouldn't get jumped by a one loss team. It's not like Texas was ranked No. 1 at the time they were ranked 11th

I think Florida St deserves a chance to play considering they are undefeated and had to win two games on their third string QB.
I agree, but the committee will use the 3rd string QB argument against FSU if anything. The other "what if" factor is the possibility of FSU getting left out and playing GA in a bowl...they win and how can they not have an argument for the NC? The only logical conclusion is to leave the SEC out of the picture. But I don't think they will. They will leave out FSU.

Kirk can be a twat, but he made a good point.

The average point differential in the CFP's is 19 points! That's freaking awful.

It's not the most deserving.

It's the four best.
