Outside of special teams, tell me one thing

Well, we got two back to back above .500 seasons, so that's a plus and an improvement.

Do some of you remember the Frost era? The coaching is so much better than back then. The discipline is night and day, and we’ve clearly developed some fringe talent into contributing players. Those are signs of good coaching.

We had some positions with subpar talent this year but the team was also really young at certain spots. Pietrzak, Guthrie, Donovan jones, shavers, keona davis, etc all played a ton of snaps on defense in their first or second year as starters. I’m not as critical with the coaching as much as I am experienced players who underperformed like van poppel, Jeudy, Watson-Trent, Buford (although his was mostly due to accumulated injury).

I predicted an 8-4 season and we are 7-5. Not that far off and considering we started our backup true freshman qb for 3 games, it’s really gone as I’ve expected.

So many people on here get their expectations way too high, then when it doesn’t go how they want, they get all emotional and upset and blame it all on certain coaches they have preconceived beliefs on.

I predicted 7-5 and this season feels like a massive let down. I don't think it's expectations that are the problem.

That gives you confidence in this coaching staff moving forward? What is one redeeming quality that this staff has?
Development of Emmet Johnson, and the secondary shutting down USC’s top nationally ranked passing offense. Amongst a litany of negatives, EJ’s development and the defense’s USC performance, the epitome of a great year in the secondary, are two positives that we could hang our hat on.

The bolded especially. There are real criticisms one can make of this coaching staff, but with some exceptions most criticisms are low quality emotional outbursts from seemingly drunk fans that don’t know what they’re talking about.

There isn’t one person here who has high expectations. This is such a crap argument. I guess expecting to play the game with discipline and execute basic plays and for our players to play better at the end of the season than at the beginning of the season is too high of expectations. There is no friggen excuse for how this season ended.

In terms of Coaches

- Ekler is ELITE
- Shorts is a good young coach I think…
- Don’t dislike the DB coach
- I think Barthel might just actually be good

Rest of them….. oof

There have been MANY examples of players playing with discipline and executing basic plays throughout this season. Unsure what you’re talking about? Especially relative to the counter-factual of Rhule’s first season and the Frost era.

For example, we finished the season positive in turnover differential for the first time since 2016. Do you magically want them to be top 5 in TO margin or they’re fucking terrible?

Holy shit. NOBODY EXPECTS US TO BE TOP 5.

Very Disappointing, but Nebraska literally lost their starting QB who made the entire offense's engine run. All of our seasons predictions were based on assuming he was playing. You can question the strategy of that, but the offense was built around him. He was supposed to be the guy who was elevating Nebraska. And for the most part he did.

OL is the biggest disappointment of the year. All offseason we were under the assumption that not only were they good, they were a strength of the team. They ruined the early part of the year for us and ultimately led to Raiola getting hurt.

Emmitt Johnson. What a baller. It sucks this good of a season was wasted.

Im already moved on to 2026. Rhule is not going anywhere, so we can cry about that another day. This season just needs to be proof that our boosters need to go all in on the portal. If Nebraska got just 1 of those key tackles that we were after last year, they are probably at least 9-3 and that is with our defensive problems. We cant play Moneyball. Go be a big boy and buy the best players.
