What is there to lose? They keep talking about "open" competition, they're full of shit. They keep trotting dudes that aren't getting it done. Between Hixon/Piper combo, Benhardt & Sichterman, I don't know what's worse. At least give those guys a shot. If they fuck up, what are you out of, because that's all that's happening right now.
I certainly understand the consistency concept, as I believe in that too, but not when half your line is shit. Find the guys that can get the job done, and be consistent with them, even if it's not a popular name. Almost feels like the accountability speech is lip service at this point.

He’s a fucking idiot if he thinks all high school football Oline scheme is “knocking the crap out of people”
The fact that he calls zone a finesse scheme tells me all I need to know. He doesn't know dick about OL play. So why comment on it in a way that tells me you do. Annoys the shit out of me. Don't try and tell me zone is "finesse"

We also run a lot of gap stuff. Like every major CFB team in the country has an analyst devoted to charting whether a team ran duo or zone.

It sure seems like our best runs come off gap run schemes.
We suck at combo blocks on inside zone. I'm not smart enough to know what the issue is exactly, but it seems to me that we climb too quickly to the second level before we've really finished those initial blocks. It's been a consistent enough problem over the past three years that I have to think it's OL coaching as the problem remains regardless of who is in there blocking. @spacecoyote on twitter seems to think that we should run stretch more because we block that OK, but I think that was something that worked better with Teddy.

I think Johnson also runs OZ/MZ very well. He has a good feel for it.

I do think our IZ blocking has improved since MSU, but not good yet.

It's not even a good paraphrase of what Zatechka says but that's 100% where the idea comes from.

Exactly...he's regurgitating Zatechka's thoughts, but completely fucks it up, but don't question him on it....because it comes from Zatechka. And that's why he's a putz.
I personally love it when Zatechka tells us how zone blocking isn't a physical style... Then proceeds to go and open his yearbook and tell us about back in his day.....

You fuckers ran zone plays too! Every run play is physical if you have the right offensive lineman to run it.

I get it he is pandering to the old run the bawl guy, but don't be stupid.

Like watch that... Then watch....

Not same play but look at the difference in combo blocks. Fuck I don't think Austin cared about getting 1st level combos

Sounds like McNally. Talking the gallop technique.

That first clip you posted of the OL sucking ball sack is a prime example why I thought they track blocked their zone plays. I'm not a fan of track blocking....at all.
