ole jim needs to stick to pig farminOof.
Oh give me a break. That tweet literally has the hashtag "GOP Clownshow Continues". His entire Twitter is "Republicans bad".Actually, I thought he was stating he believed the departure was related to a purely local political (with a small p) situation, not one related to the political parties in control of the state governments in the two states. That's what I said several posts up.

It seems to be specific to the Nebraska powers that be to me, not general to all Republicans, As you pointed out, Carter is not hesitant to move to another state run by Republicans.Oh give me a break. Opinions are like assholes….everyone has one. I really didn’t value Barfy’s opinion on sports and even less on politics.Oh give me a break. That tweet literally has the hashtag "GOP Clownshow Continues". His entire Twitter is "Republicans bad".
It's literally a pay raise and the best school in the conference. Dick move for sure. Millions tend to sway people.Imagine being donkey brained enough to think politics was even a remotely relevant factor in the equation. Ohio State is a significantly better job across the board. Lee just wants to bitch and moan because Lee like to bitch and moan.
Sucks to see Ted go, but this is what happens when you hire good people and its a good sign for Nebraska
I hate Brian Christopherson's voice on the radio as wellLee Barfbag
Dirt Shitface
Lee is a sad, bitter, broken man who spent 4 decades working to cover a state and a team that he hated. Obviously wanted a bigger platform job among big city people, but never got one. Everything he says & does - from his '97 national title vote of Michigan over NU to his current twitter rants - is through the spectrum of a guy who rages against us flyover state rubes who didn't properly appreciate his imagined urbane genius.Oh give me a break. That tweet literally has the hashtag "GOP Clownshow Continues". His entire Twitter is "Republicans bad".
Yep.Honestly if Rhule didn't cite Carter as one of the main reasons he came here I wouldn't give a shit.
I mean, we had Bill Belichik calling Ted Carter telling him to look at Rhule and not worry about his NFL record. It was odd for a school like UNL to have these incredible ties to the northeast (and he used them).
Carter was a big asset to the athletic dept. You need the replacement to have a similar type rolodex to his (though I doubt the new president is gonna have Bill Belichik's number on speed dial like Ted does).
I've heard that it was very unexpected. I would also suspect, given his background, that Pillen is a bigger supporter of the university than his predecessor (although I don't know that for sure). Biggest change in his employment situation this year was hearing from THE Ohio State University, which is a big promotion whether we like it or not.You guys who still live in Nebraska will know more about this than me, but there were rumors that Carter was talking to search firms for several months. At the same time he also restructured the AD reporting so that the AD is a direct report of the President, not the Chancellor. These two things would seem to likely be related, at least to me, as people tend to want to engineer things pre-departure to put reports in a better position politically.
The biggest change in Carter's employment situation this year was Pillen taking office in January.
I will just say again, I heard rumors he was talking to search firms well before he took this job, so it can't have been too big of a surprise to people really on the inside. He apparently didn't give the BOR a chance to counter and retain him, like you might if the offer came out of the blue and you were otherwise happy in your job.I've heard that it was very unexpected. Yeah. Ohio sucks. Ohio St, though, has a tremendously impressive facilities and Columbus is not a bad city.He may be getting paid more, but this is NOT a promotion lol. Have you ever been to Ohio???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mine is usually a pretty good source with this kind of stuff but could be wrong here I guessI will just say again, I heard rumors he was talking to search firms well before he took this job, so it can't have been too big of a surprise to people really on the inside. It seems to me like he was looking to leave, but he will never say. His background says he is the kind of guy that will keep that to himself and not point fingers.
Pillen's own words suggest he and Carter were at odds:
We changed things, improved things. Him bailing at this moment is very disappointing.
Carter wanted more money for UNL. Pillen said no. Ted probably didn't come to UNL to restructure and make budget cuts.I will just say again, I heard rumors he was talking to search firms well before he took this job, so it can't have been too big of a surprise to people really on the inside.
