Ted Carter new Ohio St president

Carter wanted more money for UNL. Pillen said no. Ted probably didn't come to UNL to restructure and make budget cuts.
Per the article, Pillen gave the university more money, a 2% increase. Just not the 3% he asked for. Only in academia is a 2% budget increase actually a budget cut lol

100% Republican then, Lee is gonna be pissed

Washut says he has heard rumors about the Tennessee chancellor as a replacement. They couldn't have been too surprised about Carter. Notice AD Danny White reports to her.

She was who a lot of people thought would be the next chancellor. IMO would be a good hire.

This really smells like something that has been in the works for a while at this point
In my experience/knowledge of how hires work in academia, the vetting process takes several months.
Usually, BOR's know if someone is being vetted, but the time between official hire and announcement is quick.
So it could well be the BOR knew that ted was looking/being looked at but the officialness of the hire could have come abruptly.
In talking with a regent about a year ago they said they always have a list of candidates for all higher positions (even football coaches) in case of events like this.

This is a spot you keep a list of candidates for given how much academic admins move around.
I know - that's obvious. But it isn't the case every often that a specific name comes out of the rumor mill this early, especially someone who was just recently vetted by the BOR when they hired Bennett.
