“I’m not sure how much true I-formation stuff they’re gonna run; I know Coach Satterfield has talked about having a fullback. I think some people are expecting some I-formation power all the time. I don't know if it'll necessarily be that,” Kaelin said. “Where they kind of laid it out, especially Coach Satterfield when I was up there in January, we watched some film where he was showing me they're gonna run a lot of similar stuff to what they did at South Carolina with Spencer Rattler. That kind of fits my playing style. He's a pro-style quarterback, he's not gonna kill you with his legs, but he’s obviously a good athlete.

“So I think as far as the fit, I think it'll fit me really well. They're gonna do a lot of play-action stuff, which I really like. So I’m really excited for the offense they're gonna be running. I feel like it'll be a great fit for me and my play style.”

Rivals - Breaking down how Huskers offense will be structured under QB Daniel Kaelin

Sounds more like what I expected from Satterfield. He won't say it publicly or anything, but I don't think Sims is really the kind of QB that Satterfield wants. More like Sims was the best they could get in the portal, so for now they're building the offense around him. In the long-term, we'll be focused on pro-style QBs.

Gross. Hopefully Satterfield is only here for a short period.

I think it's also a matter of adapting the offense to what will help them win in year 1. since the OL is still shitty and the defense is suspect that means shortening the games by running a lot and using play action and RPOs as the focus of the passing game

Satterfield's scheme is largely ineffective without a QB who can threaten with his legs.

If you're South Carolina and want Albino Boy as your QB, you don't hire Satterfield.

If you're Nebraska and want a Dual Threat guy who can sell a lot of RPO action while playing defense and dominant special teams, then you hire Satterfield.

The experiment will work at Nebraska if the defense and special teams suddenly plays competent football.

But i have serious doubts if Satterfield will be the right answer with a dude like Kaelin behind center.

DR probably wasn't the best fit for Satterfield then either

Making assumptions about the offense because of recruiting a “pro style” qb is comical to me. Relying on recruiting services to label dudes as dual threat vs pro style. Like yeah. A dual threat is going to be faster. But let’s be real. If they’re being recruited to play qb at the D1 level. They’re all going to be serviceable enough to run the Fûcking ball. And they’ll have Qb read and/or qb run elements in their offense. They aren’t recruiting statues. Despite rivals or any other service saying “pro style”.

Will they be cam newton running downhill on power read…no. Or some fast ass kid running the outside portion of zone read. No. But they can do those things in a serviceable manner.

Rhules O at Baylor ran a holy fuck ton of RPOs. I know he said they’ll be more like Temple. And I haven’t seen any film of Temple under Rhule. But if you watched the schematics of the spring game. It sure as hell looked a lot like Baylor schematically. That I’m very confident in.

I know "pro-style" is probably verbiage based on dated ways of dividing things up, but... have people looked at who pro QBs are nowadays? Not many stiff and slow dudes like the "pocket passer" caricature of the last generation.

Exactly. And most of these kids play in spread systems anyways. The whole pro style label is dumb IMO

Don’t worry, we’ll put the fear of god into defenses with our slow white QB and 22 personnel lmao.

Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch. Fuck.

22 personnel works….and keep hanging your hat on recruiting services descriptions of pro style. Fucks sake.

Also. They ran a whopping 4 plays in 22 personnel in the spring game. Vast majority of snaps were 10,11 or 12 personnel. But keep beating that drum.

I have the opposite opinion.
I hope Satt has enormous success and stays around to take the head coach job after a handful of nattys.

Edit - Bomber was ashamed of the original.

I just want a physical team. I really don’t care about what offense we run.

Why in the fuck are we wasting our time on a fullback camp then?

Who gives a flying fuck about a fullback camp that was probably ran by GAs and analysts, with a drop in from a few coaches….
