Yeah well NC St just cheered him out the door too.
Was Beck the best OC we have had in years? Frost could march up & down the field but would always stagnate in some way. Langsdorf’s west coast was square peg round hole & always over complicated certain scenarios. Whipple was only here one year. Shawn Watson sucked after Ganz left.

Well when you cheer a guy out of town that's averaging almost 400 yards a game. One has to ask how realistic is your fan base?

I wouldn't call it a buddy hire - it is more that Rhule hired someone he knew would do what he wanted they way he wanted it. I don't even think you can call is Satterfield's offense - it is just as much Rhule's with a few things Satterfield added when he went to South Carolina.

If you're concerned, it's really a concern about Rhule. But the two of them have functioned well together in the past. I don't understand why South Carolina last year suggests Rhule should have hired someone else and taken the risk the new guy wouldn't be all in with his rebuild plan.
These were my thoughts as well. Rhule is going to have a lot of input on the offense. Rhule does not want an NFL failure being his legacy. He is going to do everything in his power to make this program successful. Of this, I have no doubts. I also believe he is going to work with OL as well to at least make them competent. He will do this will other parts of the team as well. We are in good hands.

Yes, I don't think there is any question that he was. Not a top tier OC by any means but at the very least much better than recent OC's at NU.

Players made plays in that offense and they had a good balance of run/pass.

You can’t bring common sense into this brother. You gotta freak out!!!

I'll probably be yelling at Satterfield in 5 months, but wasnt South Carolina starting team managers at QB in 2021?Not sure how you are supposed to win in the SEC East if thats the case.

They had the 39th best scoring offense in the country last year at 32.2 points a game. That includes a game where they got dicked on by Georgia. Scored 30 or more in 9 games. 50+ in 3 games. Nebraska hasnt done that in a long long time.

Id take that in a hearbeat. Nebraska is winning 9 games a year easy if they are putting up 32 a game.

Why are our fans so stupid?
Because we've been told for decades by all kinds of people who fly in and fly out of Lincoln that we're one of the smartest fan bases in college football. There are some absolute football GENIUSES on these boards and sprinkled throughout the fan base, but then your average tater hears that he is part of a super smart fan base and thinks that makes him smart when he spouts off his dumbass opinions. Source: I used to could be that dude. I now realize I don't know shit from shinola

So we have consensus that Satterfield is an average at best OC. Seems like a solid hire, not like it’s an important spot on the staff or anything.

Correct me if I am wrong but Satterfield likes to throw the ball around the yard. Rhule says he wants to run it but his teams have never finished a season top 60 in rushing and we have Raiola as an oline coach. Not to mention a juvenile coaching wideouts and brand new P5 coaches at RB & TE.

Not sure how anyone could look at our offensive staff plus our offensive talent and have any faith that our offene won’t be steaming dog shit.

I believe that the consensus on Satterfield would be average to good at OC. Don't think I've seen anyone proclaim him great or bad.

Faith in the offense is based on what Rhule has done in the past and what he says he is going to do. It is fair to say that there is not statistical proof to back it up, but faith isn't based on proof.

I just never understand why fans have this overinflated sense of football knowledge to pretend they have any idea how good or bad coordinators are beyond “Offense could move ball good so OC good”

I don’t buy the “complicated terminology” thing because if that’s the case how does he get to the D1 level? Any OC worth his salt will scale things based on what the QB and the offense will grasp. You don’t get to that level without being able to do that.

He may very well be an awful OC, but most of us aren’t knowledgeable enough about football to know that and none of us are familiar enough with Rhule and Satterfields conversations to know how relevant his past stints will be next year anyways.

Rhule has been known to throw the ball around the yard too, and he is the one saying he wants to run it. It's almost as if, he feels he can coach both ways and one of the ways he used to do it won't be the best way to do it here in his estimation. Maybe, just maybe, a coach can do things differently at one place than he did at another place to suit the talent and environment he has. Boy, wouldn't that shit be something!
