I believe that Rhule has moved on from Satterfield (or will get there by Dec 1). I'm kind of shocked at the amount of people who think he'll be back.
Here's my reasons/data points:
- Satt is a top 8 paid OC, ranks in bottom 30 in production
- NU has not won a game where opponent has scored more than 14 pts in Rhule's tenure
- ROSTER: I believe many of our top offensive players like Fidone, Barney, Carter Nelson etc may look to transfer if Satterfield is back in 2025
- RECRUITING: I believe we will struggle recruiting top end WRs/RBs if Satterfield stays on
- STAFF: simply replacing RB and WR position coaches does not address #3-4
- Satterfield has already sold his Lincoln home & rumor that wife/daughter moved back to South Carolina (in a vacuum wouldn't mean much but in this situation...)
- Media are openly asking Rhule if Satterfield is going to get fired
- When asked 'what does the offense do well?' Rhule shrugged his shoulders 🤷🏻♂️ (clip below)
- Rhule is needing to bring in outside sources to help diagnose what's going wrong on offense (not good if you're the OC)
- Fan apathy. Rhule knows he can't afford to run it back in 2025 with no major changes or you may see repercussions at the gate
- Rhule didn't defend Satt in his recent press conferences. He DID defend Satt after the 2023 season.
This is all assuming Nebraska does not go 3-0 vs USC, Wisconsin and Cockeye. If that happened then all bets are off. But I think at best they could go 1-2 & that wouldn't change anything.
