Rouse gone

That’s fine but this shit happens all the time in recruiting. Sometimes we are on the good end of flips and sometimes we aren’t. This one really sucks because it was at a big position of need.
Recruits are 16-18 year old kids. This is a full grown man who agreed to a dollar amount and the deal was solid enough that he publicly announced it. Then less than 24 hours later reopened negotiations.

I don’t give a fuck if he is 18 or 24 this shit is going to happen. When we flip a high school kid or transfer late I bet you’re not going to be saying the same shit about the kid, man or whatever you want to call him. If this was reversed and we out bid OU at the end it would be all good from our perspective.

I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who etc.

Could be right, could be wrong, I suspect very few people know with a high level of certainty
That's what I thought. I just love how we have social warrior fans such as Juan who makes baseless accusations about our NIL and how Frost/Austin were racist for not recruiting black OL. Yes, it sucks we lost out on 2 good OL potentially due to a lack of NIL, but if they are chasing $$$, I'm not sure if those were the type of recruits that Rhule wants. Personally, I rather throw the bank and Dylan Raiola and start building the dynasty around him.

I hold 22 year old men to a higher standard then a 17 year old boy. Agree to disagree here

It's like when you buy anything that is being negotiated. You make the offer you're comfortable with and if it's not good enough you walk away. Should they have offered Rouse more? Maybe. But I think you have to be careful about the type of guy you're bringing in if the money matters that much.

What is blowing the bank?
I don't know. None of us know any details on these things. There's no point in asking me.

Maybe paying 1.5x or 2.0x above market value for a player with 1 yr of eligibility when you're probably a 6-6 team anyway. Again I have no idea though.

Out bidding is one thing. Renegotiating after a deal has already been agreed upon by both parties is something slime balls do.
And I don't think Rhule has much of an appetite for this. Especially for a 1 yr dude who was 2nd team all conference of a non B1G or SEC school.

I don't think Rhule has an appetite for this type of thing. MAYBE if we're close and like 1-2 difference makers away from a CFP level program. But in reality we are a 4-8 program with much work to do. More work than a Pac12 OL can fix on his own.

I have a hard time blaming our NIL guys here. Rouse took our deal even though he likes the OU program more because it was more than OU offered originally. OU swooped in late and either got close or matched what we offered. Not worth getting in a bidding war over a guy who clearly prefers another program.

we will probably know the real story from Sean Callahan in a few years on the money part of it.

You are completely right about this…I just want to blame Matt and call him a prick. 2 birds 1 stone.

Between Aaron Taylor offering to teach the OL how to fuck up Hausmann's world and this, I think we're getting to a solid level hate as a program
