Do you like the KUIU bags? I've got one and it's nice.
Yeah, I really like it.
It's pretty comfy and holds all the crap I need for 7 or 8 days easy.
Hauling meat is fine with it.
Probably not as good as a Barny's frame-pack, but for the weight, it's tough to beat.

The barney's are nice but most people around here just have the basic cabelas pack frame. I know plenty of locals that won't shoot a moose unless it's right by the river haha. I bought mine from a guy leaving town. I actually just picked up a custom 8 weight sage that a teacher's husband was selling for like 80 bucks. They are moving to Arizona and I guess he never really used it.

Ever year, when the river breaks up, we go up to the mountains, to gather dead wood. The mountains are about 4 hours away by boat which kind of sucks but whatever. The first time I went we had 6 guys and this is what we brought for a week long trip:

3x 1.75 rum
3 x 1.75 Whiskey
6 cases of Coors Lite
3 rubbermaid totes full of homebrewed beer
A mason jar full of the devil's lettuce.
3 cartons of cigarettes

It's a 2 day float back down to Bethel because you can only push the log raft at like 3 miles an hour. We were completely out of everything by the time we floated into town.

@huskermack your favorite stream! Way more fishable in September but not much besides grayling.

I could move into the bushes on that creek - seriously.

A couple of years ago, there was a guy living in the bushes right by the bridge behind the Roadhouse.
His name was Arnie, and he happened to be from Nebraska. Grand Island I think?
Anyway, he was living the life - retired from some slope job - so he wasn't completely destitute.
We smoked and drank together all summer long.
My wife used to get soooo pissed at me when I'd stumble back to the van as she was wrangling our then 4 and 2 year old babies.

Last photo dump for the day. These are sockeye salmon in a stream I was fishing last July. I was basically kicking them out of the when I was walking in Quartz Creek down in the Kenai.

Bead city.
Bastards are hard to catch though in many spots.
A lot of pressure - understandably so - IT"S GORGEOUS THERE.

Believe it or not I was about a week too early for beads. I was just too stubborn to switch to nymphs because we hammered the dollies on the upper Kenai on nymphs.

I’ve actually caught an Artic Grayling. 1981 on a lake that was in both Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territory. They only bit when the sun popped out. Had it mounted, but I did a crummy job of packaging during a move a few years back & made the decision to dump it when I saw how beat up it was. ☹️

Smattering of some photos through the years. Just getting my mounts hung at home after a bit of basement reno. Live for this stuff—luckily have a relatively supportive wife despite having a 20 month old and a new baby in July.

I have a lot of ambition for hunting. Hope to complete the super 10 before I have to hang it up. That’s 1 animal of the 10 species in North America. Super slam is shooting all of the subspecies of the 10 (I believe 25 animals) but I don’t have the bank account for that.

Finally getting a trophy room together. Been in the house 2 years and haven’t had a place for stuff. Soon to be polluted with kids toys unfortunately.

I have the same North American Slam goal, but like you a 3y/o and 16m/o have temporarily delayed my plans. Still buying preference points for big horn sheep and moose in the interim. Think I have 7/8 a piece now.
