QB - likely upgrade
RB - only one way to go from rock bottom
WR - clear upgrade
TE - slight downgrade
OL - fuck me sideways we sucked, trending up?
DL - downgrade
LB/pass rush - upgrade
DB - upgrade overall, losing Cam and JoJo hurts
Special Teams - please God be an upgrade

Overall I don’t know how we aren’t better talent-wise when compared to last year.

DL no.
QB maybe.

The rest seem plausible
I think at best DL will be a wash. You will be better as at your "edge" spots IMO, but I think you will feel the loss of Daniels.

QB I think is a wash. I think 2AM is a better runner and deep passer. I think CT is really good in short to mid range. You can see CT's accuracy really shine in the RZ when you look at his ball placement and anticipation. You never saw that out of 2AM. I do think Purdy/Smothers at QB2 is the best we have been there in a long time.

To me if we are better at QB comes down to crunch time. 2AM was bad then.

I tend to agree.

QB - at worst I think is a wash
RB - Between Grant/Allen being added and Ervin getting healthy I think it is a step up.
WR - I think this is a step in the right direction. I don't know about clear upgrade, but definitely didn't go backwards.
TE - Depends on Fidone
OL - Talent wise is going to depend on how healthy we get. Without Teddy being healthy I think you take a step back talent wise with the loss of Cam.
DL - I think you upgraded your edge and downgraded interior.
LB - upgrade
DB - Higher ceiling, but no experience. I know a lot of analytics say the two best spots to have experience is OL and DB.
ST- KO/PR are both upgrades. Kickoff upgrade. Punter upgrade. Bleekrode please be an upgrade.

I just can't get over how much they lost on the DL to think it's an upgrade. Now maybe they finish off the transfer portal strong and it ends up being better, but as of right now it's wishful thinking.

Thompson seems fine on paper, but I won't be a believer until I see it

No. We are significantly less talented then we were last year. Should have better specialists and RB though.

Edit - pass rush should be better but I'm not sure we'll see a big improvement on the stat sheet due to our DL sucking rather large dong.

Which positions on offense are worse?

Yeah I know Mike'l said in another tweet that they only lost "UDFA" but man you lost a lot between Casey, Riley, Stille, Daniels and Thomas. I am really hoping for "serviceable" DT play this year outside of Ty. Like just don't lose us games there. You really need your pups to step up and into that role as serviceable 2 deep players. You then need Ty, Luke, Nick, Mathis and Nelson to be your playmakers.

I do think our edge talent has stepped up. It would not surprise me at all if Mathis and/or Nelson are All B1G players.

If CT is better in redzone, he’s a better QB. We win more games if we’re not ranked 111 in redzone & if CT can hit short-quick windows, that’ll help the run game punch it in as well

Fun fact, our offense was #1 in the B1G in red zone TD percentage. Special teams was the much bigger problem with our red zone offense than the actual offense.

CT is a much better passer in the RZ. 2AM was a better runner. CT has a shit ton of passing TDs compared to what we have had during Martinez time.
