Fun fact, our offense was #1 in the B1G in red zone TD percentage. Special teams was the much bigger problem with our red zone offense than the actual offense.

CT is a much better passer in the RZ. 2AM was a better runner. CT has a shit ton of passing TDs compared to what we have had during Martinez time.
Where did ya get that? This says we’re tied for 3rd to last & it would be pretty shocking to find we are number 1 with 3 wins & if I remember right, a top 25 defense statistically

There are a few categories you can debate. There should be no debate or consideration of an improved DL. IDK what the hell he's thinking or if he's just tweeting from the hip.

I'm strictly talking TD %

Once you incorporate FGs it all goes to shit

We could be worse talent-wise and have a much better record. Easier schedule + plus not piss down our leg in a few close games.

Schedule went from 10/10 to a 4/10

Team could be way worse and have 3x the wins

That’s where I’m at. I, a known SF hater, think they’ll be somewhere in that 6-8 wins range.

It will be called a success by the media and frankly most of husker fans. It’s really something, but hey, they’re gonna get what they’re asking for. Probably already have.

Yeah I know Mike'l said in another tweet that they only lost "UDFA" but man you lost a lot between Casey, Riley, Stille, Daniels and Thomas. I am really hoping for "serviceable" DT play this year outside of Ty. Like just don't lose us games there. You really need your pups to step up and into that role as serviceable 2 deep players. You then need Ty, Luke, Nick, Mathis and Nelson to be your playmakers.

I do think our edge talent has stepped up. It would not surprise me at all if Mathis and/or Nelson are All B1G players.
The bold would make sense if it was obvious that there were better than UDFA's coming up behind them, but we don't really know. Severe was in the business long enough to know that's a sofa king stupid take

From what I'm gathering 6 wouldn't be a success or viewed as a success. I think that number is closer to 8.

7 would require some context iyam

We had two OK offensive linemen last year, Nouilli and Jurgens. Jurgens is gone.

Teddy P is coming off of a significant injury and is still young. Corc can't stay healthy. Benhart could be the worst OT in Big Ten history.

I’m not going to argue with anyone who’s skeptical of the OL. I’m of the school of thought that it can’t get worse and there’s experience coming back.

Curious on WR though. Toure is a loss. But honestly, I’m not seeing this group being worse than last years

We have proof that they’re willing to move mountains to keep their boy in place. Contract extensions (based on nothing), changing the schedule, firing the whole offensive staff before the season is over so they can retain SF, etc etc

You might be right, but I’d say if history has shown us anything, if SF has any success this year he’s comin back.

I'd be shocked if he's not back at 5-7

Same context tho, if last year’s team had a Pelini era schedule they win 9+ games.

Best team since 2010 IMP

I think WR will be above average, so about the same as last year. We gain a few interesting transfers but lose Toure, Betts, and Falck.

Regarding the OL - every year since 2018 we've been saying it can't get any worse but it still gets worse every year.

I think at best DL will be a wash. You will be better as at your "edge" spots IMO, but I think you will feel the loss of Daniels.

QB I think is a wash. I think 2AM is a better runner and deep passer. I think CT is really good in short to mid range. You can see CT's accuracy really shine in the RZ when you look at his ball placement and anticipation. You never saw that out of 2AM. I do think Purdy/Smothers at QB2 is the best we have been there in a long time.

To me if we are better at QB comes down to crunch time. 2AM was bad then.
i love smothers. i love him sans douchebag mario too.

Gotcha, well our TD% of scores is going to be the highest when u can’t make any FGs.

Texas redzone scoring was 19 rushing & 16 passing, ours I think AM had 7-9 passing with 16-18 were rushing & capitalizing on tight windows inside the 25 is what we were missing. Plus 12 of our 25 redzone tds came against Fordham & Northwestern.

The line wont get any worse than last year because they were beyond pathetic. Can we actually see mediocre play is the question? We know we won’t be world beaters there.

No.... TD % of trips to the red zone. Our TD % was good because we were good at getting into the end zone once we entered the RZ.

Our FG kicking sucked which lead to us going for it when we shouldn't have and a lot of missed chip shot FGs.

Plus 12 of our 25 redzone tds came against Fordham & Northwestern.

That is also why I put up the conference only part to show Fordham didn't matter.

We also had 4 RZ TDs against one of the best RZ defense in the country(Wisconsin)... We also doubled up the amount of RZ rushing TDs they allowed YTD that game.

If we have a good kicker we likely beat Wisconsin on a last second FG. We had 2 empty possessions I don't think we would have went for early in the game bc we forced a 4th down attempt. Therefore the last RZ trip would have been for a game winning FG vs hoping for a DPI in Madison.

capitalizing on tight windows inside the 25 is what we were missing.
I agree and highlighted it ITT

Yep

Same thing with Frosts first team in my opinion
It’s hard for to me buy any of that when Frost’s teams are always undisciplined, play horrible special teams, and Frost is a poor game manager. Frost’s teams have figured out how to beat themselves in a lot of games against teams that weren’t any more talented that us.
