Lettuce discuss Whipple's offense

And if you knew even the most basic amount of math, you'd be able to convert Pro weather to college weather and see that throwing the ball holds when it's 22.

Agreed man but I forgot what cold weather college football team ran a pass first offense and was successful?

the name is escaping me

When was the last game in Lincoln when you couldn't throw the ball? Never o'clock?

its not about being able to throw the ball

its about being able to run the ball whenever you want and running the ball whenever you want

during a pass play only the DL has to be physical, the OL is playing keep away and the back 7 is playing 7 on 7

during a run play everybody is being physical, (even the DBs/WRs)

I don't care if we throw the ball 50% of the time, just make the other 50% of the time worth it.

I hated Riley and his offense. I've hated most of Frost's offense. Not cuz we pass the ball, but because we don't run the ball at all.

Shit man, I'd take a 60%+ pass/run offense if we actually ran the ball good for the ~40%

Just flipping through some of their games....

Looks like they love to run this levels concept.

@slattimer Whats the QBs progression here? Is he going Hi to low? Post to dig to drag?

Hard to tell exactly on that clip, but I think it looks like the 8 concept in DG language. Looks similar to this.
8 concept.png

QB Progression is #1 the Post, if the post takes two, then you hi/lo the flat player, that taken away, spin the backside and hi/lo the hook/curl defender.

In DG progression of ACTS
Advantage route - Post
Concept - Flood
Third fix - backside dig/rb checkdown
Scramble

They end up showing you back tape which is why I grabbed this one.

This is when he just started to throw the post

Also, Pitt uses a ton of condensed formations... What is the advantage of doing that for your WRs? Run game? Etc....

@God is a Husker brace yourself..... He has Power in his playbook

According to 99% of this board this entire staff is going to be fired after this season so idk why everybody seems to care so much about the staff/recruiting/transfer portal.

This seems like a staple a core play out of empty.

Sticks to the top and then they will tag it with different route concepts to the bottom.

Can we also just acknowledge that Winter (for whatever reason) has moved back 3 weeks so College teams are never going to see below freezing temps at kickoff time anymore. Especially in Nebraska.

There’s plenty of fine arguments on why to prefer a run heavy offense (I disagree with all of them), weather is not one of them.
