That’s true. The bad luck excuse is dumb. 90% of luck in Football is self-made. You do all the little things wrong and you're going to get all the bad bounces. Periodt

That’s true.
Good for him for what he did for us 30 years ago but he should've stopped meddling in the affairs of both the school and state the moment he retired. He's done nothing good since. You guys in this thread Toms ready to go... fishing or take a nap in his recliner but he's ready to go.

That could be true and he could also not have much talent left from Riley. Very few made it to the NFL and the ones that did are 3rd/4th stringers/practice squad guys. Exceptions were freshman. The two Cams. Jurgens Riley already had committed CTB Frost brought in.The 2018 team was arguably the most talented he had.
I felt Riley inherited a much more Hollow Roster and did so much more. Bo looked much better when he had Bill Callahan's recruits and the last few years Bo's staff wasn't recruiting at a level we needed. Poor player evaluations and not enough effort in recruiting. We had 3 Walk Ons starting on the O Line because of Bo's shitty recruiting plus Riley's staff didn't have the advantage of the Transfer Portal or NIL.Eh I have a hard time saying it wasn't hollow.... After that initial year you felt the fact that they had 2 transition classes in 3 years.
Could they have made a bowl game? I am sure, but you would have needed to overcome some fucking bad rooms. You throw that in with some dumb shit like your All Conference Kicker getting the yips your margin for error is so compressed.
Like I said the truth is in the middle. He obviously had his problems, but the luck and talent discussion didn't help.
Riley’s 2017 team was probably the worst Nebraska team in our lifetime. Just completely atrocious.I felt Riley inherited a much more Hollow Roster and did so much more. Comparatively speaking most of the West has more NFL players than Nebraska from the last 5 years. Northwestern the only exception.Really? The talent Forst inherited was really that bad.
See the Huskers drafted and that signed UDFA deals under Frost, the cupboards weren't bare.
Riley didn't recruit shit for oline either. On paper Frosts oline recruits were pretty good. Whether he failed at development or those players were overrated I dunno. Still time for a few of them but not looking very good right now.I felt Riley inherited a much more Hollow Roster and did so much more. I agree, O Line recruiting under Riley was weak but overall IMHO Frost inherited a much better roster than Riley did. Pelini left the program a mess. In retrospect I think Cav might have been a better O Line coach than I gave him credit for but his recruiting was a definite weakness.Riley didn't recruit shit for oline either. The talent wasn't were it needed to be, and wasn't great by any stretch of the imagination, but it wasn't 0-6 start bad.Comparatively speaking most of the West has more NFL players than Nebraska from the last 5 years. Northwestern the only exception.
Currently there are 14 players in the NFL from the 2019 draft to current. One starter (Matt Farniok). 10 on the 53 (including Farniok). 4 practice squad guys. Doesn't include transfers like Wandale. Not sure if there's any others.
Cockeyes in the same amount of time has 27. 7 starters, 19 on 53 man roster, 8 practice squad.
So using that comparison Cockeyes was twice as talented. Over twice really considering they have 7 starters to our 1.
Depth on the OL wasn't good, but we had some guys that made it to the league. Farmer & Foster were Pelini guys, right? What about Farny and Jaimes?Riley didn't recruit shit for oline either. I'd take Rileys OL over our current OL.Riley didn't recruit shit for oline either. On paper Frosts oline recruits were pretty good. Whether he failed at development or those players were overrated I dunno. Still time for a few of them but not looking very good right now.
That's @God is a Husker former boss and legal mentor you dumb SOBs are talking about
Riley’s first year, our starting DEs were a walk on & TE. Riley would’ve done better if he had all the transfers & NIL money they poured into frost’s team this yearI felt Riley inherited a much more Hollow Roster and did so much more. Or the undivided support and leeway to do whatever he wanted that was given to Frost.Riley’s first year, our starting DEs were a walk on & TE. Riley would’ve done better if he had all the transfers & NIL money they poured into frost’s team this year
Hard to say. It's a whole bunch of bad. Riley only had two and a half classes. So if the argument is Bo recruiting fell off at the end that would affect Frost just as much as Riley and arguably more so. Depends where you start the falling off.I agree, O Line recruiting under Riley was weak but overall IMHO Frost inherited a much better roster than Riley did. Panini left the program a mess. In retrospect I think Cav might have been a better O Line coach than I gave him credit for but his recruiting was a definite weakness.
Most of Rileys oline were Bo's recruits.I'd take Rileys OL over our current OL.
Shit give me fvcking utter back (nvr thought I'd type those words)
