The TC, Bounds and Green. We have had poor leadership from within the University that is far too influenced by Donors money. The more I have learned the more I hate, and don't like using that word but it is true, but I hate the TC. They undermined so much stuff in our Athletic Department to get their way. Now they have even divided our boosters. Moos and other AD's get blamed for what looks like doing a shitty job but if they are following directions or have their hands tied what are they supposed to do? Go against the TC and get fired? Or follow the TC's agenda/rules and have a shitty program?

I think Cook was talking about the direction that Frost and the football program was heading knowing that football is the bell cow of the athletics program. Frost was given way too much autonomy by the AD or whoever a conspiracy theorist wants to blame and it was spiraling out of control. Fundraising was a disaster. Someone had to step in. Obviously Cook likes Turd, which is a good sign.

I think from what I've put together is that there have been issues in the Athletic Department for the last couple decades but I am not blaming all of it on the AD's. The media and loyalist fans sure seem to love to bash on AD's but they ignore how the TC has virtually made it impossible for AD's to do their jobs. I have an Uncle who hates Moos and blames him for everything and that includes the Extension given to Frost after losing seasons. He won't shut up about it and ironically it is always a coach or Athletic Director that is without Nebraska ties that he blames for problems. The people who follow this closely know that Moos did not want to give Scott the extension as that was pushed on him by Green, Bounds and the TC. Yet the Potato's still blame Moos. He did his job that he was hired for which was basically Fund Raise, Fire Riley & hire Frost, fix basketball and football. He hired Frost and Hoiberg which were 2 of the hottest names and brought on less heralded Bolt who ahs turned the baseball up a notch. Not his fault the 2 hot hired haven't worked out so far. He basically gave them both free reign of how they wanted to run things.

The only way a Coach/AD can survive and prosper at Nebraska is if he is able to work with the TC to keep them happy but still be able to do what is best for the program. Turd got bullied by them pretty badly but he got a bunch of coin out of them in return. They may have won the battle on keeping Frost for another year but he won the War. I was afraid Turd was going to follow the TC's wishes because he was basically planted by them in the position. He was not close to being the most qualified but he did have a couple big boosters that loved him as did the TC. Now we have seen Turd stand up to them trying to do what was best for the program, and it feels like he not only has a strong backbone but also got a little upper hand on them.

John Cook's calm no nonsense demeanor and reputation I think would have worked well to standing up to the TC. I doubt he would worry about getting fired if he did something that was against their wishes. Originally was worried about the Turd hire but now I'm happy about it plus we don't have to worry about losing our amazing Volleyball coach to another job in the Athletic Department.

The issue is 3 members of the BOR are in the so-called Tradition Coalition. They are the bosses of the Chancellor and University President, and approve contracts of the AD and the head coaches, so they do hold A LOT of influence. Several of them are very close to TO, who in turn carries a lot of weight with several big donors. Twice in the last 10 years: 2013 with Bo, and 2021 with Frost, they have literally stepped in and prevented the AD from firing the Head FB coach, through a combination of mostly financial but also political pressure. When you influence the people who write the checks AND you approve the contracts, you’ve got all the bases covered.

I hate that mindset that it always has to be a Nebraska guy doing things the Nebraska way. The Nebraska way is one of the reasons why we’re in this shit show. I have faith in Turd but it personally pisses me off that if/when he has to fire Frost, the inbreds will only give their blessing because Turd’s a Nebraska guy.
