Colorado going all out at practice

That's true they will be running the most dumbed down version of the Briles offense (now called Veer and Shoot because people don't want to be associated with Briles). It's probably the simplest offense to learn in football. They won't have the players to run the Tennessee version. Plus I don't think their QB has the arm for it. But the offense will be simple to learn. But integrating 40-50 new guys in August....God help us if Nebraska loses to Colorado in 2023.

I will be a disaster.
Tons and tons of vertical choice...which takes a lot of practice...

9/46 transfers leaving shows the exact problem with Deion's playbook. We've all seen this shit every year. There are a few can't miss transfers (that are almost always going to go to a Bama/UGA level program), and it's a crapshoot on the rest.

Anywhere from 0-12 to 4-8 would be my guess.
I think after the spring game most lines went from 4.5 to 3.5. Before all the transferring. Because everybody saw that they were playing with a bunch of 175 lbs. kids.

I'm hoping they get some decent transfers and that line goes back up to 4.5 then I'm going to jump on the under.

I'll say this, it's fuckin wild that they have TCU first game of the season. Obviously we'll see what they're made of then (like CU will see what NU is made of vs MN).

But this CU thing just reminds me of the initial Frost UCF to NU season. It's like that x100. I expect this Colorado team to be mentally weak like Frost's teams were...meaning they'll probably be streaky. The problem w Frost is his teams never got that one break in the 4th Q to set up a win & then momentum.

It feels like this CU team could swing either way. They could pull the upset vs TCU and then beat Nebraska and then go 7-5. But they could also lose to TCU and Nebraska and go 3-9. I'm not willing to call it yet on these guys bc I think his transfer in list will look impressive when we get to June.

But knowing this CU thing will be as flimsy as the Frost/NU regime, I'm hoping for a 45-14 TCU win that ends the Prime regime before it starts.
I’ve been drawing all kinds of parallels between Deion and Frost as well. Deion is like the Super Frost when it comes to arrogance and overall hateability.

This is why I’m so on edge. The Simulation™ is at work here. Everything about this is all too convenient. We make this epic hire and everything seems great. Meanwhile our old rival hires some mega douche who is like Frost but 10x worse? And we just happen to play them this year? Yeah right, I call bullshit on this being real life. It™ wants us to think that we are finally going to be on the other side of the laughter. I will not fall for it. It™ won’t make a fool of me again.

Nope they can still transfer. Think guys like Alston, Ortiz, Purdy. NCAA hands out waivers like candy anymore. Say for your mental health you need a change of scenery and you’ll get one.
But those guys transferred before the portal "window" rules were put in place, which was just last year, did they not?
I agree the NCAA hands out waivers for immediate eligibility like candy. But have they done so for players wanting to transfer outside the window?

Shit, Gebbia left in August, yeah?
Not applicable to today. The NCAA portal windows were implemented last year, 2022. Gebbia left Nebraska in August 2018. Losing a QB from the 2-deep in August is a great example of why the windows (30 days in December-Jan, another 15 in April) were instituted in the first place.

Well, Rhule was in the NFL last year and the year before...so...fuck yourself.

20% of Deion's transfer class, including coveted transfers from, checks notes, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, and Michigan are gone. Let alone a couple studs form ODU and USF. You're actually kinda making the point here - Deion gets them in and simultaneously has 0 clue how to keep them around, and he hasn't even been through 1 full offseason yet.

P.S. the transfers aren't done yet. Already today a transfer in from Miami, a Florida boy that we know Deion loves, has left...so keep the count going.
I’ll go with the guy who covers the sport for a living but you do you (yes hes a homer)

Bottom line is it woulda been good for us if Colorado didn’t hire Deion. I’d take a Mike Norvell coached CU with a bunch of 1-11 players over a Deion coached completely flipped roster team.

The CU game went from a cakewalk to now it should be a good game. Rhule’s assistant hires are what rubbed me the wrong way. Didn’t he have a 7-8 million dollar pool to work with?? And that’s what we got?

I’m in wait and see mode while you all are balls deep in a pond of Rhule-Aid. Haven’t we learned our lesson?

I'm trying to rack my brain and think of a player who has made a jump like this, and the only thing that I can think of is that in 2016 Oregon took Montana St transfer Dakota Prukop to replace Mariota.
Oregon actually pulled an FCS QB to be starter a few years earlier too, Vernon Adams Jr from Eastern Washington. Slightly different than Shadeur situation though bc Adams was a 3 yr starter and held every school record. Grad transfer to Oregon for SR season.

His first yr in 2015 was a big adjustment to FBS. He really struggled at the beginning. Oregon was 3-3 and fans wanted him run out of town. He got hot in the 2nd half of the season.

So you'd think Shadeur is going to be up and down that first month in FBS - at best. Though as someone else pointed out, we could be living in a simulation where this guy throws for 400 yds/gm right out of the gate.

he was also joining a team that was built to win and had the offense rolling for several years (iirc, that was the time frame that they began dropping off under Helfrich when they couldn't sustain the Chip Kelly success any longer)

things will get very interesting in Boulder if Shadeur struggles early. if there's one thing we know for sure, Deion will put the blame anywhere but on him and his kid

Yep, exactly. Ducks had the machine running at that point, basically had a Pac-10 championship level roster at all positions - they just needed a QB.

Oregon in that era was the polar opposite of this CU team. And the QB still struggled in first 6 games.
