Colorado going all out at practice

So they will start getting guys to come there and people will say "see" then in July/August you will see their portal entries skyrocket again.
Except the portal doesn’t open again until December. So they’re stuck in Boulder for at least one season, unless they just plan on sitting out the season all together.

Wait wait wait wait...

So on McAfee Deion says "Wait till you see the list, you'll understand once you see the list"

Then later that same day we have public post on the TweetMachine from his Director of Player Development asking for D2, D3, and JUCO talent to come play for Prime?

Whoa, that guy is actually affiliated with the team? I was assuming it was someone making fun of Sanders’ begging for players.

I'll say this, it's fuckin wild that they have TCU first game of the season. Obviously we'll see what they're made of then (like CU will see what NU is made of vs MN).

But this CU thing just reminds me of the initial Frost UCF to NU season. It's like that x100. I expect this Colorado team to be mentally weak like Frost's teams were...meaning they'll probably be streaky. The problem w Frost is his teams never got that one break in the 4th Q to set up a win & then momentum.

It feels like this CU team could swing either way. They could pull the upset vs TCU and then beat Nebraska and then go 7-5. But they could also lose to TCU and Nebraska and go 3-9. I'm not willing to call it yet on these guys bc I think his transfer in list will look impressive when we get to June.

But knowing this CU thing will be as flimsy as the Frost/NU regime, I'm hoping for a 45-14 TCU win that ends the Prime regime before it starts.
This is a summary of a discussion on the Cover 3 Podcast yesterday:
Jackson State had all 4 of their WR transfer out to Power 5 schools. They had an LB go to A&M, a safety deciding between Louisville and UCF, and another LB go to Cal, and they had various other positions all follow Deion to Colorado (including the QB), 9 kids went to CO.

So in total, theoretically, Jackson State had 16 Power 5 kids on their roster last year in the worst or 2nd worse FCS conference in the nation. They only beat a 4-7 Alabama A&m team by 14, a 6-5 Alabama State team by 14, a 5-6 Campbell team by 8, a 4-7 Tennessee St team by 13.

Bud Elliott compared their talent level at the FCS SWAC to some guys on an NFL team coming down and playing for a good group of 5 school.

The insinuation was..."can these guys actually coach?"

There's a reason Jackson St chose to play in that bowl game at the end of the year instead of going to the playoffs. They would have been absolutely exposed.

Nope they can still transfer. Think guys like Alston, Ortiz, Purdy. NCAA hands out waivers like candy anymore. Say for your mental health you need a change of scenery and you’ll get one.

at first glance I'd have to say CU has a better staff of assistant coaches than Frost brought to NU, but has a worse roster

considering how many new players they are bringing in that won't even have had spring practice with the team, losing 45-14 to TCU might be considered a good showing for the Buffs. I wouldn't be shocked if the score is uglier than that, but I have absolutely no idea what TCU is bringing back

I fully understand that those 4 came in with Deion. What don’t you understand about losing 4 of the 50 youve brought in is not a big deal? 4 fucking guys out of 50? Now do Frost’s ratio.
they've had 9 guys come with Deion and leave already. 4 are just Power 5 contributors/Big School guys

9/46 incoming transfers leaving, I believe, is the ratio in 3 months. That's not comparable to years of attrition. This is "I fucked up - gotta get outta here". And if they are getting jumped THEN the problem is - apparently the all-wise Deion doesn't know how to scout/evaluate. He's just throwing fucking darts at wall and will ruin kids' careers to keep trying it out.

Passing this off as "not a big deal" is up there with some of your dumbest quacktastic takes

So 9 fucked up and needed to get outta there but the other 37 are just fine! Glad we are on the same page!

Ducky is running the ole Green Bay power sweep again. You're unstoppable when you run this one...

Just to be clear - if Rhule brought lost 9 guys that he brought in with him, you wouldn't be wondering what the fuck is going on with his program? And when his staff started begging publicly for D2 and D3 players, all would be good?

It’s impressive the flip that Deion is making if you look at the recruiting profiles of the guys leaving vs the guys coming in. Now is that a recipe for success? Time will tell. I’ll say this Shadeur is the real deal. I don’t buy the overrated sentiment with him.
Interesting that you take the "time will tell" approach for Deion, but are hyper-critical of every move that Rhule makes. Yet, Deion's coaching resume is a joke compared to Rhule's.

Shedildo put up solid numbers at Jackson St - no one denies that. But how is he going to translate to P5 football. Similarly to his dad's coaching resume, he has never had to play against anyone with a more talented team. I'm trying to rack my brain and think of a player who has made a jump like this, and the only thing that I can think of is that in 2016 Oregon took Montana St transfer Dakota Prukop to replace Mariota. Prokup was fine, but ended up being replaced by freshman Justin Herbert. Oregon ended up 4-8 that year and lost to us. Prukop didn't have the gaudy stats that Shedildo had. But he also wasn't working with other legit P5 talent.

Shit, Gebbia left in August, yeah?
that was pre-portal so he had to sit that year out, iirc

with most of CU's players already being transfers I think any that transfer again will need a waiver, unless they graduate

Make no mistake, they are 100% going to be fucking terrible next year. Worse then last years 1-11. If this strategy works at all its gonna be in Year 2 or 3, because Year 1 is going to be absolutely horrible.

  1. They basically didn't have spring practice at this point. It is tough for new coaches to install in winter, spring, summer, and fall, much less in maybe a summer session and the the fall. Just think how slow Wynn, Ochaun, and Drew were to come along, thats gonna be CU x like 40 players
  2. They will barely have any time to scheme even a vanilla offense or defense for the season. They just don't have time to do that. That will allow teams to pick them apart during games. They are basically a juco team.
  3. Line play? Maybe Primes son is a Heismen QB, its not gonna matter if your lines are god awful.
  4. They could recruit Bama DL, OSU LBS, and Celmson secondary and it would be tough to gel, much less with a transfer scraps they are gonna get
They are going going to be hot garbage next year, particularly in Week 2. Anyone watch Last Chance U? That is basically what this CU team is going to be. A bunch of guys, maybe even some talented ones that are going to be running the most vanilla scheme possible. The only problem is they arent going to be playing Butler CC and Garden City, they are going to be playing TCU, Nebraska, USC and P5 teams.

Deion is basically gonna be that dummy head coach Jason Brown from Last Chance U. What he is doing is fucking insane.

I love it. They are going to be so terrible. I'm gonna tune in every week. I honestly can see them losing by like 50 points every week.

Did Rhule sign the #1 transfer class in the country? How many 5 star CB’s Rhule sign last year and the year before?

Well, Rhule was in the NFL last year and the year before...so...fuck yourself.

20% of Deion's transfer class, including coveted transfers from, checks notes, Alabama, Kentucky, Florida, and Michigan are gone. Let alone a couple studs form ODU and USF. You're actually kinda making the point here - Deion gets them in and simultaneously has 0 clue how to keep them around, and he hasn't even been through 1 full offseason yet.

P.S. the transfers aren't done yet. Already today a transfer in from Miami, a Florida boy that we know Deion loves, has left...so keep the count going.

That's true they will be running the most dumbed down version of the Briles offense (now called Veer and Shoot because people don't want to be associated with Briles). It's probably the simplest offense to learn in football. They won't have the players to run the Tennessee version. Plus I don't think their QB has the arm for it. But the offense will be simple to learn. But integrating 40-50 new guys in August....God help us if Nebraska loses to Colorado in 2023.

I will be a disaster.
