I liked Casey. Warrior who showed serious toughness behind a line that struggled mightily to protect him. I bet they are asking Rhule if he will be going after a big name transfer portal QB even if Casey returns.

My nephew said he was definitely the leader of the team.

Thompson strikes me as a QB who’s skill set is actually better suited for an RPO scheme, and not whatever the hell Whipple was asking him to do.

RPO’s, when correctly schemed, can actually negate a lot of OL pass-pro issues. If you have decent tackles and terrible interior lineman, you can essentially take your interior lineman out of the equation by moving the pocket to wherever your best lineman are. It gets the QB on the edge and gives the pass rushers multiple things to worry about, as opposed to doing a 5 step drop and praying our OL keeps the pocket clean for more than 1.5 seconds.

That’s part of why you hear Rhule say the burden of protecting the QB goes 1. Coaches 2. QB 3. OL

Whipple, on the other hand, believed in 1. OL 2. QB 3. RB 4. Receivers getting open 5. Coaches

It also hides not having a big arm. More about accuracy, decision making and timing.

I would imagine it's hard not to like Rhule. Seems personable and genuine.

Honestly if you get Casey's buy in you probably get over half the team's buy in. I think Casey was a pretty strong leader for this team by the end of the season. Wonder who the other players are that were present at the PC

Maybe in 2-3 days when his body feels better, his mind and spirit will lean even more towards a return.

It's tough when your body is aching to think about putting yourself in front of the firing squad again.
