Kinda weird how unbelievably positive you were about Scott Frost until literally this year and how you’re immediately negative on this staff before it’s even hired.

Why doesn’t this staff get the benefit of the doubt?
It is weird, isn't it?

I’ve said for a long time on this board now that the only way to lower your risk with this type of thing is to hire the best help money can buy. I’ve yet to see Rhule do that here.

Yeah but that doesn’t address why Frost got the benefit of your doubt until the last possible moment and this partial staff is already getting a pretty critical eye?

I’m not even talking about just Mickey. If he doesn’t do everything he can to retain him that’s flat out stupid though because there’s not a better WR coach in the nation than him.

But…. Mickey isn’t from the northeast and he didn’t go to Penn St. So I’m sure he’s not gonna make the cut here for Rhule. Like I said, hope the GA from UMass works out.
How do you know Mickey even wants to stay?

Like I said, it's not all doom and gloom. Rhule took a highschool head coach on as an assistant at Baylor, and now he's the head coach at Texas Tech. He seems to have an eye for talent.
I’m looking at the staff as a whole so far. Maybe he will round it out with some more experience and good recruiters, but so far it’s not very impressive. It’s also okay to do your homework and go hire some coaches who don’t have ties to you.

All of these guys have recruiting backgrounds. He's also told us from the beginning they aren't going star hunting. If you expected him to go after only 4 & 5 stars, then you didn't do much research. However, that doesn't mean he sacrifices on athleticism. His players at Baylor had just as high of a PAI score as Saban's players at Bama.

I don’t see all of the guys hired at this point being proven recruiters. You can educate me if you want.

Proven recruiters? Not all of them, but most of them have backgrounds in recruiting. I probably shouldn't have said all as I haven't stayed up to date on all of the hires.

Tell me a first year DL coach is what we need in the big ten. I’m old enough to remember a time when we called the big ten a LOS league. Entrusting one side of the LOS to a guy with basically no experience is absolutely stupid. Upper echelon stupid.
JFC dude have a drink and pull yourself together, you go from being all SF even when he’s clearly a terrible coach right up till him being fired, to being all in on Rhule, to the sky is falling is falling now one day later. Things are never as good or bad as we make them out to be, probably a good lesson to take in

Rhule needs 3 coaches to be guys like Elijah or Mickey. If those guys are surrounded by a mix of young, hungry dudes and old veterans I think that’s fine. The hires so far haven’t been stunning, but the puzzle isn’t complete yet, either.

We still have what 6 FT coaches left? Let’s take a chill pill until the full staff is announced. It’s okay to be underwhelmed but freaking out is a bad look
Agreed.

Also it's very telling that some people on here were willing to let Frost step in his own shit for 4+ yrs and they continued to back him... But Rhule has had the job for 24 hours and already they're being tough guy on him. It's pretty fuckin transparent.

Like, let him hire his full staff before you start freaking out.

Yes! Are these guys who we all pined for and dreamt of, no. But there are hundreds of great coaches that just need that opportunity. I think we can even reserve judgment until we see their units perform.
