I mean, every coach is going to be a chance. Rhule himself was a chance guy. Look at Rhule's philosophies about recruiting and seem how that could apply to his coaching circles. Not a lot of proven coaches across the P5 are going to come in a lateral move unless they're fired or about to get fired. Or in Whipple's case, come for the retirement package.

We'll have to get up and coming guys, Rhule's typical followers, or coaches that will only come if they get offer a bump in title change, like Robinson from aTm. I'm guessing Robinson will not come unless he has at minimum a co-defensive coordinator role. Same with a lot of other coaches on both sides.

Not really sure I buy the idea that we couldn’t have gotten guys with experience so we have to bat 1.000 with a staff full of newcomers. But we will see.

Not the same situation… Try to think real hard about how they’re different….

Gonna have to help me out here. KW still had Tyreek Hill and Devante Adams coming to train with him. He’s not a shite coach if that’s what you’re suggesting.

Maybe, maybe not. That's literally what we can't see from our perspectives. Rhule has to make the best decision for his staff with what he is given, and those coaches might be asking for a lot to come.

So your belittle him for having a title like that then try to convince us someone else who has the same title is a good hire?
One guy you described as the best position coach in the country (before you described another guy that way).

The other guy has caused you to have a 24 hour and counting hissy fit.

Internal consistency isn’t really your bag on the coaching front.

Unc couldn’t find another school to take him on after he got fired here and had to accept a lower level position with an NFL team—basically a demotion. You claim this guy is one of the best to do it and literally no one wanted to hire him. Frost deserves a lot of criticism obviously but I think the market backed him up on this decision.

Our new RB parlayed the same thing into a position coach job and had immediate success at the new role.

You’re pissed off for whatever reason about Rhule and are not going to give him the benefit of the doubt at all. I get it. But it’s tiresome and not really productive.

Is Keith Williams a current college position coach?

I’d say no.

Since he’s not, I believe that title belongs to Mickey Joseph; although the point about Hartline from tOSU is a good one.

That had to do with his 3rd DUI over his ability to coach.

Can we all at least keep our bitching to a minimum until the whole staff has been announced yet? That, it would seem, would be the proper time to unleash the hounds.
Maybe we could set up a separate thread where people so inclined could just angrily shout into the void as each hire is announced.

KW is without a doubt a great teacher for the WR position. His energy, his attention to detail, etc. all stood out while he was here.

He also had some character concerns, both in regards to his personal accountability and relating to the type of kids that he was recruiting. How many of your top targets from a single class getting arrested on serious charges within a couple years is acceptable?

I think there are valid reasons that he's not coaching in college, and I think that his whole Gorilla Wideouts brand/embezzlement scheme probably wouldn't be welcome by most real college programs. But, you're right that he definitely is a good trainer. Then again, he isn't even an actual position coach in the NFL either so there's something missing from the guy's skillset that is holding him back to this day.

I’d agree with most of this. And bringing him up isn’t to say that I want him here now. My point was to demonstrate that getting a “fresh start” isn’t always the best and some hold overs aren’t bad.
