Assistant Coaches

I would be very interested to know what Chadwell would say to OC/Associate Head Coach at something like $1.4 million a year.

The rationale is as follows:
1. He makes $800k
2. Coastal likely will never be able to get up much higher unless Moglia just writes the checks to do it.
3. The past Sun Belt to P5 head coaches are.guys who had previous major conference assistant coaching experience, e.g. Malzahn OC at Drinkwitz at NCSU. Chadwell has never coached in a major conference, recruited in a major conference, and I'd guess the attractiveness of him as a HC in one is limited by this.
4. He philosophically fits what Frost is trying to implement

After reading the tea leaves and watching the game today, I’m switching my opinion that Frost will be retained for another year. I don’t agree with it, but that’s just my feeling so I’m mentally preparing myself for that.

With that, we know with this there will (should) be assistant changes, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. So let’s speculate.

For me, I’d like to see Austin, Held, and Mario gone. That gives us 3 openings to work with.

1) ST coordinator - Bill Busch, Sean Snyder
2) RB coach - ?
3) OL coach - ?

Clearly I’ll need to some more research but wanted to open it up for discussion.
I would put Dan Jackson on your special teams hot board.

RB you can convince me either way. I am more pissed that Held can't develop a pipeline to IWCC. Getting a 2nd RB ready sucks too.

OL I would have Garrison, Scott Fuchs, etc...

Lovin where your head’s at

Is it a Frost thing though? Walters didn’t do much better here.
Walters first year was good, but that was when Martinez was good for half a season. Maybe it's just a martinez thing. Seems like the talent in the WR room is very high and the production doesn't really match it.

Why does he have to know him? Go out and get the best OL coach that we can get. If those are the changes we are making, you might as well fire Frost now.
If I’m not mistaken, Frost has had a past connection to all of the coaches who have been on his staff.

Ok. And that has failed. He needs to change things up. If he is unwilling to go outside of his comfort zone, see ya!

Then why are we retaining Frost? His special teams sucks, he has no role in defense and his recruiting has gone over a cliff…. It’s not like he’s a great CEO or motivator….

Frost will coach QB, Brown will coach RB, Garrison will coach OL, Snyder will coach ST, and if Fisher leaves, then Busch will coach DBs and be RC. Or Busch will be ST/RC.
In addition I would make Snyder assistant HC if he were hired.

Frost could also get rid of Lubbick, then have Beckton coach WR, and then have Beckton and Ron Brown tag team TEs, with Brown also coaching RB. Then Frost could go get a better OC/QB coach.

You can split the tightends between the offensive line coach and receivers coach if you really wanted to.
