Aaron Murray breaking down DR15 vs CU

I think it's interesting that Satt gets all the shit from Saturday but no one mentions McGuire or Donnie when their groups are committing all the procedural penalties and not blocking. TEs have looked good so far.

Satt is the OC so I get that it starts and ends with him but I think there's a lot of people looking for any reason to jump up his ass.

Guys have to execute as well. Glad we're bitching after two wins.
Excellent point. Or Rhule for that matter as well. Players screw up and it's the OC's fault, not the players, their position coach or the HC. Sure smells of a witch hunt.

But seemingly unnoticed is the vast improvement in Fidone's blocking. He had some big important successful blocks against Colorado, that he wouldn't have got done last year.

100%....

I'm predicting a big game from the WRs vs UNI and next week we'll move on to another completely unrelated topic (LBs alignment on 3rd down to make something up).

I would add that I hope we get some FG work done vs UNI. Because we will need a FG kicker vs Illinois and every game after. But unfortunately I think we're gonna have a ton of TD drives vs UNI.

BTW dude, what's with all the OPI calls this year?

There has been some good blocking. We can see that also on film. A big play in the 2nd half that called called back on a BS holding call (was really great blocking and a pancake block by our receiver). It's not all bad stuff, there is definitely good stuff going on also.
Read that it was called on the wrong player. R Johnson got called for it, his block was great, but Bonner was holding. I haven't gone back and looked myself.

Both eval and development. The dudes they've taken off the proverbial scrap heap whether it's been Benhart or Gbayor etc. and made into solid big ten starters+ is super impressive.

There’s no reason we can’t combine what Wisconsin and Cockeye have traditionally done with our national recruiting profile.

I get annoyed when the word “Development” gets thrown around because every program is a “developmental” program. Don’t you think Saban, Kirby, and Meyer always were developing their players?

Add Callahan level recruiting with top level scouting and yes DEVELOPMENT and there’s no reason Nebraska can’t get back to a top 10 program.

I thought that was the case too, but both blocks were fine, IMO. The one on the next play that Rahmir took to the barn is probably holding I hate to say.

Colorado seemed to sell a lot of the calls.

My issue was if you’re going to call holding very tight you have to do it on both sides. The play Gbayor got tossed on there were two blatant holding calls missed; one on Ty and the other on Williams.

Every year at beginning of season and mid season, there is a point of emphasis on a penalty or penalties, either by a Conference and/or all NCAA Rules Committee. With those evaluators and officiating directors watch those more for missed calls and you'll see an uptick in calls since it's a focus. This happens for a few weeks until teams start adjusting and officials relearn the threshold. Teams are extremely good at learning what they can and can't get away with with a crew or conference's group of officials and officials have to adjust to focus more on it.

Example a few years ago coaches were complaining about defenders grabbing and holding the inside arm, not allowing a receiver to get both hands on the ball. Defenses learned that it's hard to spot from a deep sideline official and really only angle was from backjudge. So BJs started having to focus more on the grabbing of the arm on deep sideline plays and getting more depth on pass plays to see it. We saw called last week with Fidone. Few years ago that wouldn't have been called.
