Aaron Murray breaking down DR15 vs CU

Ya I get that our wr blocking may not be what we want it to be yet. But I feel like we are kind of running with it mostly because of these videos.
idk man, just watch the blocking on that Fidone arrow play against UTEP where all of the message board geniuses called him slow.

I actually think Satt is going to look good this yr w a competent QB, I think the issue 2nd half was the kids had bad execution due to emotional letdown. Let's face it CU game and week was a weird one. Every other game will at least be normal.

Satt will always have his haters. My hope is that they'll be objective. But if he is poor then he'll deserve it. But it's not what I'm predicting.
Yeah, I agree.

I think definitely. Also I think Rhule coaches through the media and his press conferences. He knows exactly how to puppeteer those guys (Sherman, Dean, Sam, Sip etc) to carry any message he wants.

The message he wanted carried this week was our older WRs are lazy, unmotivated and bad teammates. The media then runs with it. Rhule will probably get a 180 degree performance from his WRs this Saturday. Rhule will then smile like Joel Grey in the movie Cabaret.

Rhule is doing his Saban "rat poison" bit. He knows how to manipulate our media to get the coaching he wants done that particular week.

I’m not saying that the blocking has been good or that they haven’t had some big misses. Just that taking out our two biggest/oldest WRs because of two games of lackluster perimeter blocking may be an overreaction. It is something that can and should be fixed

This is a better explanation of what I was trying to say

Rhule called out the offense in his Monday presser for not matching the level of Raiola...a true freshman. Rhule's pretty strategic with this kind of stuff and I would expect that this message is being hammered to the team/offense all week long. I'm also far from an expert, but it seems like these types of errors should be pretty simple to fix IF you have buy-in from the offenders. I don't think buy-in is an issue with this team, so I expect these issues to get fixed yesterday.

I actually feel bad for Northern Cockeye, as they will likely be on the wrong side of the offense demonstrating that these problems have been addressed. This matchup was always ideal for the defense, but I think we could see our best offensive performance of the year because the guys will be so dialed in after this week's message.

That being said, if we don't see massive improvement in these areas this week, I don't think we will see them fixed all year and poor WR play could be a thorn in our side all year long.

OFS, I think it's an overall effort thing and motivational tactic. The amount of effort it takes to excel is underestimated and the staff is trying to instill that as a team value. I'm sure that Tony White is similarly getting on the secondary when guys aren't playing their leverage right or not trusting the other secondary players to play their zone correctly. Just not as public given the overall execution level of the defense. You also have a true freshman who is going through his progressions and fitting throws into space against zone, so you need all your WRs to ball out to take the offense to the next level.

100%....

I'm predicting a big game from the WRs vs UNI and next week we'll move on to another completely unrelated topic (LBs alignment on 3rd down to make something up).

I would add that I hope we get some FG work done vs UNI. Because we will need a FG kicker vs Illinois and every game after. But unfortunately I think we're gonna have a ton of TD drives vs UNI.

Not same on kicker. Flush it, they won't be reliable enough to use ever. Short yardage and 4th and medium work is what the team needs, imo

Second half we oughta just (try to) kick FG's everytime we drive within range.

There has been some good blocking. We can see that also on film. A big play in the 2nd half that called called back on a BS holding call (was really great blocking and a pancake block by our receiver). It's not all bad stuff, there is definitely good stuff going on also.

But there is also some bad blocking and lazy/slow/not crisp route running by some guys, too. That is also on film. Raiola has proven to get the ball out quickly to receivers before they have even turned their heads and gotten to their spot on the designed route. If the receiver is a step or two slow, running rounded off or poor routes, this completely messes up the QB/WR timing. That stuff has to be improved on.

Improve on the stuff that needs it, continue to execute well in the areas that have been executed well so far. This is coaching 101. It happens at all levels, and a good coaching staff sees the areas needed for improvement, and gets the players to improve. I expect things will get better in the areas they need to get better at.

Since we're talking receivers, I hadn't seen it anywhere, but Malachi's mom posted on Facebook that he's definitely redshirting this year and may get in for 4 games towards the end of the year.
If he actually gets into 4 games I might begin to buy the redshirt thing. If we don't see him at all it's because he's transferring and Rhule will give his developmental snaps to someone else. No reason to waste snaps on a guy who is out the door.

Hope it works out for him and Nebraska. Curious what the reason is.

Who would have thought that the track star nobody really wanted (Lloyd) would end up better than the top 100 athlete that everyone wanted.

Might mean we should trust what Matt Rhule does from an eval standpoint with recruiting.

Both eval and development. The dudes they've taken off the proverbial scrap heap whether it's been Benhart or Gbayor etc. and made into solid big ten starters+ is super impressive.
