I’ve read two or three times. Once you start it you can’t put it down.
Have you ever read Dan Simmon's Hyperion books? That is one series that comes real close to the Dune series. If Dune is a 10 out of 10 then the Hyperion novels are 9.9999999 out of ten.

I think my brother bought me the first book but haven’t read it yet.

I will likely watch the 2nd but the first movie had a lot of holes. There wasn’t very good story telling IMO.

Got my tickets for Saturday morning!

As far as book versus the movies, I gotta admit, that most books as source material really have a hard time going to movies. Lord of the Rings, for example, had plenty good content cut and now the three movies are regarded as one of the best trilogies of all times.

For example, you get good cases like LotR, The Last of Us, and Dune for good adaptions. Then you have the bad ones like the Halo series on Paramount+ that totally suck ass. And they had books and videos games to use as source material.

I know I'm in the vast minority but I want to put Peter Jackson's feet to a fire for TLOR and I want to do even worse for what he did to the Hobbit.

I couldn’t even get through 4 episodes of that terrible Halo show. As a guy who has read 20+ books in that universe that was just fucking garbage.

After watching a bad cam version of part 2 (I'm battling a cold the last few days and had nothing better to do 🤣) I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a extended version or directors cut at some point to help fill in some of the holes.

Also sounds like there is a possibility of a part 3 at some point down the road the director said he would like to take a break from Dune for now though.

At some point, the total fucking dorks who read books have to understand that you can't have a faithful adaptation of a 400 page book without the audience wanting to blow their brains out from boredom. Like I'm sympathetic to criticisms of things that change the essence of the story or a feature of a character that's core to who they were in the source, but the book wasn't a movie for a reason and vice versa

The Hobbit was shit. I’m never arguing against that.

But what Peter did for LOTR was a cinematic experience and probably got more people to read the books.

I’m hoping we never get a remake of LotR from Amazon for a series. I won’t trust anything they do after watching that shit they put out last year or so.
