@JThomasOmaha and crew during the chat today continue to use some formulation of "Raiola is going to coach them to play physical and attack! No more of that finesse stuff from Austin!"

Understanding how little I know about OL technique, concepts, coaching, etc., even I feel extremely confident in calling this bullshit of the highest order. In what universe was Greg Austin not coaching his guys to be "physical" and "attacking"? This seems to be basically on the level of what @slattimer constantly calls out: "Tell those boys to block someone!"

Why insult us with this nonsense?

Anticipation Popcorn GIF

I'll wait for @slattimer...

My guess is Deano heard some buzzwords and regurgitates them without understanding the how/what.

Zero clue how anybody on there would know Raiola's coaching style.
I will say Damon has hinted that Raiola emphasizes physicality more than Austin.

Which if you watch us play our OL has a problem with catching and not combo blocking well at all. Is that a physical, confidence or culture problem? I truly don't know. That's something you need to see under the sheets to know,

Because they don't know. They have no concept of how to explain it, so they explain it like someone in the stands that yells "block somebody" just in an attempt to appease the window lickers on tater island.

@JThomasOmaha explains it basically as "Raiola will teach a scheme that puts a premium on being physical and to attack people." "To me that means they're going to get off the ball and get after people." LOL. No shit. And then the window lickers on tater island are like. "ERMERGHAD, WE GONNA BE BLOCKIN DEEZ B1G DIPSHITS LIKE BACK IN THE 90s" "INJECT DAT KOOL-AID IN MY VEINS AND GIVE ME THAT GOOD MIZZOU METH MOUTH"

Seems much more fruitful to just find an interview where Hiestand actually talks technique and regurgitate that because it's likely what Raiola will coach like.

Also, I have little idea what he says in the chat anymore, I basically have access somehow still on my phone, I think I checked the last chat last week at one point and saw Dean even tagged me in it...lol

Because that is what North Stadium mandated him to say.

I wish everyone on RSS would cancel their sub, it would go bankrupt and Dean would be unemployed.
I have and wish it would happen but unfortunately it will never happen

What I find comical is all of the clamoring for 90s style blocking techniques...they would probably call it soft now because it's inside/outside zone mostly, and OH NO, they bucket step on outside zone....HOLY SHIT PEOPLE.....they are not firing off the ball and just knocking the stuffing out of people. Blows my mind.

The biggest thing I hated about our IZ blocking was the lack of ability/plan to get any sort of movement from the double teams. I could be wrong, but I think our OZ/MZ actually looked "ok" at times because our OT were decent run blockers.

Space Coyote on twitter (who is a great follow) said after MSU or Michigan that he thought we should run more stretch b/c we block it well. Biggest mystery about our offense to me from 2019 on is why our RB running game is consistently so bad.
