Inside Info Texts from Waterboy re: ANALyst GATE

People are absolutely weirdly creaming themselves over secondary violations no one gives a fuck about. Getting off on the national media dunking on Nebraska is about as cuck behavior as you can get.

Rooting for Nebraska to lose to satisfy some sort of personal agenda also falls under cuck behavior.

Fuck… Allowing someone to sucker punch one of our own with the sole purpose of harming our program and not being upset about it and piling on is also cuck behavior.

Do you guys really think there are a lot of people that actually want NU to lose so Frost gets let go?

Although, It does seem like in this current environment people and more people just want to be right so they don't have to admit they were wrong. I guess a lot of people are so incorrigible that being wrong would upset their fragile self-esteem.

I think Frost is going to fail, but goddamnit I hope I'm wrong and will be here to eat the asshole out of every crow I can find.
I hope to eat some Crow. I want nothing more than to see Frost and his staff turn this program around because if successful I could see him being here for a long time leading the program. No doubting his love for Nebraska. Like many others I just have so many doubts after hearing things that are going on behind the scenes, player development and how we have looked on the field the last 3 seasons. I've coached high school and collegiate club sports before thus feel like I can tell somewhat when a team is well coached. Haven't seen that from us in the 3 years under Frost. Way too many blown assignments, lack of in game adjustments, questionable play calling, poor clock management, terrible Special Teams play, lack of player development,...... Nothing wrong with losing to a more talented team but no excuses for losing because you are outcoached. I really hope this season everything clicks because we have about as much talent as anyone in the West. Thinking we will put a decent beating on Illinois and Burt's new staff. GBR

People keep saying this. And maybe some has been shared on here and maybe not......what are these things going on behind the scenes that makes Frost this incompetent football that hasn't existed any other stops?

It's always been an issue for him. From a Shatel article in 2018:
The Golden Knights went 13-0 and were the darlings of college football last year.

But in that 13-0 season, the Knights had 109 penalties. Or 8.4 per game. The year before, UCF had 91 penalties.

I looked up a couple of other penalty totals, based on Frost’s desire to combine Chip Kelly’s Oregon offense with Tom Osborne’s Nebraska consistency and physical play.

In 2014, the year Oregon played Ohio State for the national championship, the Ducks had 123 penalties. Or 8.2 per game. Worth noting: Mark Helfrich had taken over for Kelly that year, with Frost as offensive coordinator.

Outside the ridiculous rumors on this board sometimes, I think it's pretty safe to say that he came in thinking he was gonna run the town and start pushing other teams around on day one. So he surrounded himself with old friends and talked big but when the shit hit the fan he doubled down and made complaints and excuses rather than take an honest inventory in his way of doing things. I THINK he may have started changing that over the past year or so (different recruiting tactics, giving up playcalling, supposedly veering more toward a power run focus), but time will tell if changes come in time.

And other than that, I 100% believe that the context and pressure of being The Golden Boy Returning To Save Nebraska has fucked up his head. The guy doesn't even seem to have the same personality he did while at UCF. Whether it's the yes men, not wanting to fail the state, or just feeling suffocated from being back in his old world after so long, his mind has been scrambled.

So which one is it: Rutledge, or someone that wants Frost to get bad press?

Moos has been the source for McMurphy since the OU debacle, and continues to be. Nothing to see here.

Illinois - 26
NU - 24

Hope I'm wrong, but the closer we get to game day, the less confidence I have in this team.
I doubt Moose is out there risking his golden parachute by violating confidentiality and/or non-disparagement agreements.

I appreciate the info but penalties isn't exactly what I was looking for there.

Yeah I think that's pretty spot on. I remember the article around when he was hired, he said no one even really knew who he was when he would stop and get food after a game, even after a win at UCF. That has to feel like a life time ago for him.

Yup it's honestly extremely depressing to think about. I feel for him and his family in that regard. They had a lifestyle they loved in Florida, and they KNEW this place was a weird fishbowl that came with all of those factors. Frost admitted it weighed heavily on their minds when making the decision to take the job. And yet they still probably never dreamed it could possibly get this bad.

I really really hope we finally start to win this year and it all ends up being a tough blip on the radar and we get "UCF Frost" back as our coach for the next 15+ years. Not counting on it, but it's a nice dream.

Ya know it's kind of ironic. Frost talks about how they did things back in the day under Osborne a lot. Personally I love the stories and insight and I love listening to him talk about it. What they didn't have to deal with back in the day was social media. It was mostly local newspapers and rumor mill, from what I assume. They didn't have to worry about as much noise because there wasn't anywhere for the noise to go really. Local reporters could voice opinions, and as long as games were won, no one cares. Now? Shit, you got noise and articles from everywhere under the sun.

Kind of a deeper thought, but I wonder if he really truly knew what he was walking back into, from all aspects, given the success that he had at the time at UCF and Oregon, and just that he hadn't been back in an official or important role since like 2000 as a grad assistant. In hindsight, I don't think he really knew all angles, and I think it's a lot of what you said of just riding the success high for as long as he had.

FWIW, I'm perfectly okay with him figuring things out as a Power 5 HC as we go here and dealing with the highs and the lows. Some people aren't, that's fine. I've seen shitty football basically since shortly after I can remember, what else is new? I still hope he's my generation's Tom Osborne who also had to find his way a little, but in simpler times.

“I’ve never seen an analyst instruct directly at practice. A couple might show up which is legal but they don’t do shit. Most are up top.”

???

This is just a few from a couple galleries I looked at on RSS.

It definitely took Osborne some time to figure it out. As one of the tPB "oulde's", I recall a lotta bitching in the years after he took over for Devaney. Heck, he was told that in order to save his job he HAD to win the Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl or else. The rumors of him seriously looking at the Colorado job before McCartney (and his hoor daughter) are absolutely true.

Let's hope Scott is willing to embrace some humility, fix the things he can fix, and move forward with his learning curve as a P5 coach.

Yeah I mean that's my hope, basically that the bullshit and faceplants that happened in years 1-3 were somehow enough of a foundation and learning curve to truly start building on now haha. IF that's the case, and we start to improve this year, I'm back onboard and those first few embarrassing seasons were just a humbling building block. In the grand scheme of things it would be the same trajectory as if we got a new coach and he started doing well, so if he pulls his head out of the clouds and we start winning, I'll be quick to forgive and forget.

BUT... it has to start now.

Illinois is massive now. Legit have to start hot and not look like the fumbling mess we have. If I see a swing pass on Play 1 I'll fuckin lose it lol

It almost feels like an alternate universe to me that Osborne could wear different colors than red white and black lol doesn't seem real or possible

So let me see if I understand this correctly. The accusations against Frost are:

  • Scheduled supervised strength and conditioning off campus.
    • This is the only thing the NCAA is currently working with UNL on.
    • This was vetted through the Compliance Department at UNL.
  • Use of Analysts in an improper/coaching role
    • We have Rutledge, on record, as saying that it was difficult to do his job because he couldn't directly coach the special teams players at practice or during the games.

Do I have that correct?

I believe they are centered on the ST coaching part, the S&C is just collateral and a bad look due to COVID rules.
