Outdoors thread

Our streams have been blown out for most of the summer but managed to find one that was fishable. I even stumbled upon a beer hatch as some campers left some unopened beer in the stream near an abandoned campsite. The rainbow was 24 inches according to my net.

Looks beautiful up there, and how did the beers taste?

Went out again today. It was 74 degrees and not a soul to be seen for hours. I lost track of how many I caught.

Gentlemen, I have signed a purchase agreement for 40 acres of ground in Missour’ah.

14 of grass (fescue and big bluestem ice cream grass)

26 of timber (apparently 12+ walnut trees that draw in lots of wildlife the years the trees actually produce)

It’s only 1 mile from my parents so I know the area is just full of Turkey and Whitetail.

Bonus: there is a chance I can buy more adjoining ground cuz the neighbor to the west is an old farmer and likes me compared to all these damn retired city slickers moving to the Ozarks.

@MtnHusker you’re now talking to a Benton County landowner yeeeee haaaaaaw SEC! SEC! SEC! SEC!
can i come shoot all your big bucks and leave the little deer for all the missouri faggits?

Ground is 1.5 hours southeast of KC.

Most of the deer I’ve seen around there are pretty small but I’m used to only seeing western Nebraska and Northwest Kansas Deer. Size difference like Ohio State vs Nebraska 🙁

In a few years the property should be sweet. My Dad has been working on it, building rabbit’tat brush piles and he planted 5 mulberry trees for me and put down a bunch of wild flower seed and perennial herb seed or drop in place herb seed (dill, borage, thyme, comfrey, rosemary, lavender and sage) all over the thinned out timber cuz we want to create a silvopasture for wildlife or if I move there someday for any animals my wife/kids might want to have.

I also decided I will build a pond but later when prices are better cuz right now diesel costs alone would equal my labor costs.

Someday I’m gonna hear nothing but flocks of song birds and see nothing but Whitetail, Turkey, Ducks and small game for days…

i'm exceedingly jelly.

i'm exceedingly jelly.

We lived for 5 years well below our means, lived and worked in places neither of us wanted to live or work (but paid great) and saved money instead of going on vacations or buying lavishly like 75% of our generation has done.

We decided to buy 40 acres in rural Missouri instead of 4 acres South of Lincoln for the same price.

Two week van trip up the Glenn, over to Tok, then to Fairbanks and the Steese highway.
Hit my favorite creek on the way back home down the Parks.

Lots of grayling on this trip.
None worthy of a glamour shot though.

@huskermack please ignore @Jim14510 and tell us more about the van

My Dad is already planning a trip to Yellowstone that won’t happen at least for 3 years.

I’m thinking about renting a tricked out sprinter van for the trip. (Cuz I don’t want to drive a RV in the mountains and on cluster fuck Yellowstone tourist traffic jams)

What are your experiences with it?

PS: we would only be using it to drive there, no way in hell my wife would camp, that bitch already loves the Lake Hotel in Yellowstone and we for sure will be staying there likely the entire trip. (RIP my money)
