OT: What stupid things do you enjoy as you got older?

I bought 3 of them at Doctors on the Lake Nursery in Sunrise Beach. They were 3 feet high and about $75 each. My cheap ass didn't want to spend that much so I found some women selling the Pups for like $15/plant. I went overboard.

My Dad bought 2 acres (1 on either side of their property, so it was 4 lakeside lots on either side. It was as much $$ as he was willing to spend without making him throw up) and he is gonna put in Pecan Trees in 1 of them.

He already has ordered some that are older from a place in Arkansas. (so he doesn’t have to wait as many years before they start producing)

He is already telling me how he is gonna fence them in to prevent the deer from getting at them. I can already foresee him going insane trying to protect his Pecan babies from his Deer nemesis.

Interesting on the pepper plants. Do you leave in a pot in the summer or move back and forth between pot and ground?

Na bruh they stay in the containers always, pretty sure it would kill a pepper or tomato plant if I you ever tried to repot them. (Intermediate growth roots, you would have to cut so many to repot)

5 of them are in 7 gallon containers and 2 of them are in yuge 15 gallon containers which I have on square dollys that I got for like $20 at Walmart

It’s very easy to just move them around as needed, if you have enough south facing windows where you can put the plants you don’t even need grow lights during the off season.

What Lake is he on? The deer can be ruthless when it comes to plants. Raccoons & Squirrels have driven me away from having a garden. Dirty little buggers kept eating everything.

Always been a hiker, but I’m doing at least 4-5 miles most days w/ the dog. Shit rules

Love several mile walks and dogs

You guys down there would say he is on “the river”

He is a few miles east of Warsaw on the Osage, it’s wide and still but it’s narrower compared to you Lake of the Ozarks boys

Doubt you'd kill them. Would probably do better in the summers but overall like you said the transition can be tough on them. Especially going back inside. I've done that with tropical plants (leaving in pots or switching back and forth). Depends on the plant which ones overall take the transition hardest. I never thought to do it with peppers. It's a great thought. Takes them so long to produce you're adding weeks if not months.

Where do you get the different ones? If going to try it sure af am not going to do basic ones. Too much work for just having jalapeños you can get anywhere.

I am the ultimate dork hobby guy. When I go into a hobby I'm all in. I've mostly been just fishing lately.

Old house was a 1/2 acre. I had over 1,000 hostas. Not including the ones I cross pollinated and grew from seed. Could pretty much name them all.

At one point I had about 30 fish tanks ranging from 10 gallons to 150. Almost entirely African cichlids and Australian rainbows. Would sell babies to fish stores for food and more tanks, fish, etc. Can tell you the scientific name of most aquarium fish.

Love Koi ponds but haven't put one in yet. Actually put African cichlids in my dads pond over the summer on occasion. I built the filter system on my dads pond too.
Just split a bunch of hostas today….. I always want more

Ordered the Scotch Bonnet peppers (what they make Jamaican jerk seasoning out of) from Amazon.

I have had 4 different kinds; the type I’ve kept is Red giants and classic oranges. Those are the types I’ve had best production in Nebraska and also taste the best.

The African Birdseye chilli and Indian ones I got from my Father in Law. (he brought them over)

It’s what Nandos (probably the most famous chicken place worldwide) makes their famous sauce out of.

This is the best sauce tho

$16 on Amazon: Amazon product ASIN B07DGXP9X6

PS: the Nali HQ is across the street from my in Law’s furniture factory in Malawi

Trader Joe's has a peri peri sauce that I buy sometimes:

If you can't find African birdseye chilis, tabasco peppers are closely related (both cultivars of Capsicum frutescens).
