Offensive Staff

I think we need 2 transfer QBs. 1 grad transfer type that has 1 maybe 2 years. And a freshmen transfer
I mean you are likely losing both Sims and Purdy...

You only add Danny Dimes who isn't aging the best right now.

I would be fine with adding 2 transfers.. If you had an instant impact guy and a guy who needs a year (Zane Flores for example)

If he demands so much from the assistants, wouldn't that make it more likely that he WOULD pull the trigger if it isn't working?
Typo... Fuck I can't type this morning.. Too much playing the Deano card... I will be better

can you elaborate
There was a story that I think @Yolo Bomb sent me in the offseason.... Where it was detailing a conversation between Rhule and an OC (don't know who or where it was several months ago).

Basically the OC and Rhule were working on the gameplan and the OC was asking questions about what to call a formation... Rhule told him I don't care what we call it... we are focusing on the wrong things... if the offense doesn't do x,y & z at the end of the year I am going to fire you..

Against P5 Opponents this offense is historically bad:

Plays/GameYards/GamePoints/GameYards/PointRz Pts/GamePts/RZ Att3rd Down %
5531310.330.553.32.035.29

To put some of this into context here's where these stats would rank nationally this year (out of 133)

Plays/Game: 55 (130th)
Yards/Game: 313 (107th)
Points/Game: 10.3 (129th)
Yards/Point: 30.55 (132nd)
RZ Pts/Game: 3.3 (133rd) This is fucking laughable
Pts/RZ Att: 2.0 (133rd)
3rd Down %: 35.29% (93rd)

Not cool.

Rhule strikes me as a dude who's going to unfailingly have his AC's backs during the season from any outside/media/message board pressure regardless of how things are going, then ruthlessly evaluate them after the season & hold them accountable to the expectations he's set.

I can 100% see this.

From everything I have been told, he isn't the Teddy bear he presents himself to the media behind the doors.

I have heard Rhule is exactly like this from someone who talks with him on a weekly basis.

People can see how much better Michigan is - people can also see an OC at Nebraska who hinged his side of the ball on an incompetent QB1 that he identified.
Sims was almost certainly identified by Rhule during the time prior to his hiring by Nebraska. Rhule knew his former HC well. Rhule was hired 11/26, Sims announced on 11/27 he was entering the portal when it opened 12/5. Satterfield's hiring was announced 11/28.

Im more preferential to spread option. Coastal Carolina style. What Leipolds OC at KU is similar to that regard. Basically any style spread offense where you’re running triple, double, RPO most of the time. Read people. Don’t block them.
This is 100% where I would go... Mix in a few air raid concepts for traditional passing.

I would probably be more RPO vs QB run, but it would be a part of the offense.

Let's swap olines and two RB's and see what happens.
I get this, but I don't get why we picked Sims... Why we picked Fleeks instead of a more proven WR.... Why we didn't go to the portal when Ajay left....

At some point there are choices. Wisconsin took 3 portal QBs and 4 portal WRs. Meanwhile we took a 4x100 team at WR.

I don't think anyone on here really wants Rhule fired. Many would like to see us move on from some of the assistants that were questionable hires to begin with and have an entire side of the ball looking like a HS freshman team.
You hire a guy, you have to let him pick his own staff. Fire the HC later if it doesn't work out. Fans shouldn't be calling for AC replacements at this point, if ever. I am not sure how any fan can gauge the fit of any replacement with the HC and the rest of the staff. Let the man hire who he wants and fire and replace who he wants and if it doesn't work you can fire the entire staff when the time comes.

Trying to micromanage the HC's hiring decisions is insane. He deserves to pick the guys he wants.

I'm not in favour of Turd forcing Rhule to fire anyone. Hopefully Rhule, like many of us, realizes that an entire side of the ball has performed abysmally and takes the opportunity to upgrade on his own.

I don't think it's debatable that some of these guys aren't cutting it and don't have a track record that suggests they ever will.

Sometimes when I see these types of threads, along with @Ducksker (aka Kitty) 's I wonder what certain people do for a living.

Nobody knows for sure whether Rhule and his staff will work in the longer term. But to have a linear thought process that 5 games in we hired the wrong guy in charge is naive and a linear thought process - usually reserved for those that don't completely understand the bigger picture.

We're all pissed and frustrated, but there are times in life where at least a little patience is wise. The sooner we run off coaches, the harder it'll be to attract others. Perhaps what Rhule might be learning is the runway isn't quite as long as he thought - and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Ultimately, we may need to replace a few pieces like you mention. It's a bit too early to make that declaration, but it seemed you were voicing your frustrations more than anything.

I only say this because there have been MANY head coaches over the years that didn't get it right until they were deeper into their tenure. A coach that can bring a couple of his son's with him doesn't happen all that often.
These people don’t have an inner voice. It’s not a surprise.

There is ample evidence Rhule will demand results. He has a pretty good record of identifying guys who turn out to be able to coach after he works with then a couple of years. Why would we believe we could manage this better than he will? He shows at every turn he isn't an idiot. Everything you see, he sees, too. And much more you don't see.
