Offensive Coordinator

That being said, Moorhead's kid is a pretty good HS QB (lower level D1 type) and I think the thought process is he sticks around Akron for like 2 more years while his kid is in HS and then he maybe moves on.
With his 6-26 overall and 3-17 conference records at Akron how realistic is it that he'll be there much longer or does he have a lot of leeway there?

Maybe Rhule can use the Gaetz State connection to our advantage.

Bro in law just got on staff this spring, hopefully some leeway. But I don’t know what Akrons expectations are.

I was talking about Ravi and DB specifically.

I think the radio personalities are more reactive than thoughtful although I think Severe is the exception. I don’t think the 247 guys are out on Satterfield, I think they have some issues with play calling (one ex being the goal line stand after the int).

Obviously there are issues on offense, I think there are issues. I’m more interested in knowing whether the issues are growing pains or inherent to the OC. Josh Peterson isn’t providing any analysis I gaf about.

@Mythosaur you ready to move on from Satt?
My issue is less about Satt and more about Rhule. There’s absolutely things I would like to see improved on the offense but Rhule hasn’t given enough reason in my opinion not to trust his judgement on the overall direction of the program. Hes also pulled play calling from Satt before so I don’t think he will be blinded by friendship. I also don’t think calling for the firing of the OC mid season is productive. I talk to a search firm who runs in depth analytics on coaches and they have Glen Thomas as a worse play caller than Satt, so I don’t think there’s a solution in season. Finally, I think there’s been flashes of good offense and some of the struggles are execution related, not scheme issues. Could it still be better? Sure, but I think at least some of the hate towards Satterfield is not totally justified.

One question that hasn’t been raised in all of this discussion that is probably worth asking:

Satt’s contract is $1.4M annually… I can’t find a buyout amount, but assuming we have to pay him his remaining contract value, is it more worth it to spend $1.4M in dead money to buy him out plus another buyout for another OC from somewhere else, or use that money for top flight talent in the portal? To me, if we’re gonna spend ~$2M in contract buyouts I’d rather grab 3-4 high end portal guys at WR and RB to plug them in next year than anything else.

Kind of/maybe depending on how courts settle(?) two different pools of money though.

I’m just operating under the assumption everything is going to be paid to athletes through the school, whether it’s the revenue sharing or booster money. The recent change where boosters can donate to 1890 through NU and earn loyalty points is the writing on the wall there IMO.

If you want to play big boy football, the only acceptable answer is "both"

I generally will pick 5* players every time.

My concern is that Satterfield is getting a bad enough name that he turns recruits (portal) off from Nebraska. I don't think he's there yet. But it might happen. I don't think Satterfield is a household name yet.
