NU President Ted Carter On Frost

I was initially supporting waiting until the end of the season, but losing this weekend kills bowl eligibility. It would make sense if they said they had discussions on expectations and it was bowl game at minimum. Plus I honestly can’t imagine another bye week with a loss, potentially a beat down, and everyone just sitting there while other coaches around the county are shown the door over the next two weeks and other programs officially get a jump on coaching season.

Next week might be a good time to just make a break and put Chin in at interim. The players are playing for less if they lose this weekend anyway. It gives them a free week to absorb the change before getting back to work. Losing the head coach shouldn’t matter much when nothing else is on the line. Plus Turd and Co can stop worrying about doing things in the shadows when the vacancy light officially turns on.

I agree. As you said, If they lose this week a bowl game is gone. Also, if they were to fire him after an OSU loss, it doesn't give him the chance to beat Wisconsin and Cockeye and then further create potential doubt about firing him. I know many fans would be crying for more time if he were to win his last 2.

IMO, once bowl eligibility is gone, 2 additional games shouldn't change the narrative win or lose. But, it may be best to not even give him that chance.

I am probably completely wrong.

The only reason I would wait is the fact Turd has stated he won’t comment on things in season. I feel like it would be a faux pas on his part to go back on his word as an AD that’s been on the job less than a year and can’t stand by what he says.

Now does that mean he can’t work some back channels to get things in the fire ahead of time, absolutely, but I think he needs to stick to his word so he doesn’t have that held against him.

I agree, I think it happens after Cockeye. And if Turd hasn’t been working back channels already to gauge interest, he’s probably not doing his job. I would bet he has.

I’d say it is about 80/20 Frost to be gone vs. return. I think there is a 1% chance Turd does anything in season. There would have to be an incident or something. I’m rooting for a 3-0 finish 🤷🏼‍♂️

This just means we end up beating Ohio State and everything drags on.
Ohio State has too much on the line. They will win. Maybe we keep it within the spread, but I doubt it. Wisconsin is a for sure loss, and if the team knows Frost is gone I can’t see them beating Cockeye, but out of all of the games left Cockeye is the most winnable.

I just don’t see it. Turd made some pretty strong comments against making a coaching decision in-season and I don’t see him going back on that.

the usual suspects GIF

Turd has said that there won’t be any comments during season. Interesting to see how it plays out.

Circumstances can reasonably force the issue. This concept of words still applying to completely different situations than expected is silly. If you’re not adaptive to situations, you fail.

That said, I don’t see Turd doing anything in season. Too much “family” aspect involved more so than keeping some word that was stated before plummeting to the bottom of the West.

If Ohio State does what they should to us, it would be the best time to cut bait though, words be damned.

I wonder if after the Ohio State game Frost would come out and say that he’s resigning at the end of the season due to personal reasons.

I've been saying this for a while. Do it LSU/Orgeron style. That would be best for the program, the players and Frost. Give the players 2 games to play with no pressure on them. Frost would still coach those games but let the assistants do their job. Let Lubick call the plays.

Maybe Nebraska wins one or both of those games. There'd probably be a weight lifted off their shoulders not having to deal with the constant drama around Frost. Program gets a little momentum heading into the offseason. Frost gets to leave as the good guy.

My recommendation for both parties would be to push for an ending like this. Don't go into the Cockeye game at 3-8 with all the drama still around Frost 'will he be back' question.
