Sign Up Now!Toss a bag at D-rock and hope he will forget he coached at the plantation for all those years.I wanted us to cut ties and hire Niko outa Colorado State last year, but now no way he comes here. He’s gonna either end up at Minnesota (alma mater) after they also inevitably crash and burn this year or some much better caliber program. So I have no idea what we’re gonna do if this ship sinks.
I am honestly convinced this is the only way to go. We keep trying to hire guys known for developing and can’t recruit. 12 roster spots it’s all about talent acquisition. Go get some amazing recruiter with sketchy past to bring in some dudes. We should have hired Pitino a few years back.We need to hire someone covered in AAU filth and who has the potential to get us in serious NCAA trouble
Yep, I've been saying for several coaching hires that the only way to jump start this program is to make a morally fringe hire. You gotta get dudes, once we get the proverbial monkey off our back we can hire a more above the board coach if we so desire but it is literally the only way we make this work.I am honestly convinced this is the only way to go. KState was dog shit for many years and turned their program around with Huggins and then Frank Martin. New coach is cut from same cloth. You have to get coaches with recruiting connections to win in Lincoln, NE.
When Hoiberg came he brought a morally fringe assistant here was doing shady stuff right?Yep, I've been saying for several coaching hires that the only way to jump start this program is to make a morally fringe hire. What's the worst that could happen? We are banned from post season play and have to fire our coach? We already self impose that.
I would do a laundry list of things for one sweet 16 run.I’d trade one sweet 16 run for 10 years of probation.

The short lil fat guy? Not nearly shady enough. When Hoiberg came he brought a morally fringe assistant here was doing shady stuff right?
McCollum is your guy. Bring in Lon Kruger as an AHC to mentor him (similar to Phil Martelli)
Ben McCollum will deliver a conference title, final four, national title. Guy is a psycho cut from the same cloth as Mike Krzyzewski. Get it done
McCollum is intriguing. Jumping from D2 to B1G is drastic, though. Would be worried about recruiting at this level, but he's a winner.
Kruger is 71 years old haha. I think he's done. But I like the idea.
A couple of jobs he's been offered in the last 12 months:
- Buffalo
- North Texas
- West Virginia
It's actually becoming pretty common to bring a retired coach on as a mentor to a younger head coach. Someone accomplished in that role would be fantastic for the reasons you're concerned
