Nebrasketball Coaching Hot Board

I still think Fred gets another year. Mainly b/c of the injuries this year. I honestly believe NU makes the NIT had Gary and Bandoumel not been injured.

One of the biggest cock-blocks this year was the NU Admin. Had they cleared Keyontae Johnson, this team all the sudden is NCAA Tourney Bubble worthy.

You cannot downplay the injuries this year. Losing 2 starters would very hard to overcome for any team.

All of his predecessors got at least 6 years...I would be surprised if Fred didn't get 5. Unless of course Turd is done with him.

Let’s say Fred’s season turns out terribly and loses control of the team. Here are some names I’ve kept an eye on since the beginning of the season that would be reasonable:

1. Darian Devries - Drake. 2 time Missouri Valley Coach of the Year. 5th year at Drake. First 4 years each had 20 win seasons. Before Drake was an assistant at the blue school in Nebraska for 17 years totaling 20 years on the staff. Maybe Altman could put in a good word in his ear for us.

2. Grant McCassland - North Texas. 114-68 at North Texas over the last 6 years. Was an assistant at Baylor before going to Arkansas St and then North Texas. Baylor assistants turn out good - look at Tang at Kstate. Won the programs first NCAA tourney game in 2021 - wouldn’t that be nice.

3. Steve Lutz - Texas A&M Corpus Christi. Has been an assistant at Purdue and Pickle Smoochers. Took a 5-19 team and turned them into 23-12 with transfers.

4. Craig Smith - Utah. Long time Miles assistant. Has had some pretty successful teams at South Dakota, Utah State and now Utah. Turned an average SD team into NIT teams. Led Utah St to 3 consecutive tourney appearances. As of 1/4, he has Utah at 11-4. Would be great as he knows the landscape of Nebraska.

Some others I’ve found while searching other teams got boards on years past:
Jai Lucas, Duke assistant
Adam Cohen, Xavier assistant
Alvin Brooks, Baylor assistant
Darren Savino, UCLA assistant
Randy Bennett, Saint Marys
Ty Lue
Dana Altman, Oregon
Chris Jans, Mississippi St
Jared Grasso, Bryant
Dana Ford, Missour St
Ben McCollum, NWMSU
Pat Kelsey, Charleston
Dusty May, FAU
Petino

They all made a post-season appearance, or more, in their first 4 years. None of them had 3 straight losing seasons let alone 4.

All 3 men’s sports needs to be cut now.

All 3 men’s sports have been inexplicably and inexcusably bad for far too long and I hate being a fan of this university. It might feel like your dog died for awhile; but burning this fuckin place to the ground is best.

Just fuck all of it
