What's good gentlemen?

My buddy got invited to speak at the 2025 Kansas Cattlemen association dinner.

Did you go this year? It was 2 weeks ago and apparently 1 of their Ag law speakers bailed last minute and won't ever be asked again.

My buddy's last name is "Aker" and is an Agriculture law attorney.... PERFECT FIT

PS: he is the 1 who was in charge of cleaning up the mess the Plainville livestock commission (sale barn) created by being forced into bankruptcy due to committing about every violation imaginable for almost 2 decades.

I don't attend those counterfeit organizations or their conventions. They collect fees and memberships dues and they do nothing for the feeder/cow calf man.

To clarify, I'm talking about KCA, not your buddy

I get it but let me tell you a little secret of how Topeka and Washington DC work.

The various rowcrop lobby groups are 10x stronger than the State/National cattlemen associations and that's why virtually every Federal and State law/act/farm bill has been a pay day for row croppers and diddly squat for cattlemen.

1 example: the USDA backed loans on farm inputs and paying for crop insurance has created a "can't lose" scenario for many farmers. I say can't lose not "make huge profits", the typical row crop farmer in America today isn't worried about losing his shirt like the cattlemen are. Ain't no reason at all cattle couldn't get the same high floor treatment. (Pigs and poultry are too industrialized to qualify)

Pretty good round of hail came through this morning. Trees are shredded, skylights knocked out in the camper, and it will take a roofer to tell me I need a new roof, but I'm guessing it's homeowners insurance claim time.

I've got buckets in the camper catching the rain, but REALLY need it to stop for a bit so I can get up there and get it patched ... before the mid-day round of storms show up. Springtime in Nebraska ... gotta love it.

Not to kick a guy while he is down but... I'm surprised a fancy pants wealthy boy like yourself doesn't have 1 of those big/tall carports specifically made for campers or RVs.

Like every "house" (lake house, cabin or McMansion) at Lake of the Ozarks has 1 of those ports to park their camper/RV

Das ist verboten in the neighborhood HOA covenants. Hell, I'm allowed a grand total of 20 calendar days per year to have it in my driveway. I just brought it home from storage on Sunday to do some pre-trip maintenance and put a few more gadgets on it. The next-door neighbor stores his at the same place I do, and he can't even get out to inspect his this morning due to the flooded roads in the area.

If you think boats are money pits, get an RV. There's always something more to add or to do with one. I'm glad I opted not to roof mount my solar panels or I'd be dealing with that crap, too.

Overnight rain gauge totals: 4 & 3/4"

A little hail on the patio around 5:30 this morning ...

You just got 1/3 of our annual total rainfall in one day. Except this year when we became Seattle for a winter. Still waiting patiently for a 70 degree day. May gray and June gloom. Sorry to hear about the damage.

After yesterday's mid-day round, we ended up with a little more than 5" of rain in l/t 24 hours, and I've talked to folks whose total far exceeded that amount in other areas of the metro. Back to the sunshine and 70's today. I'll have to rake the downed leaves and branches before I mow ... again ... this afternoon. New roof & gutters forthcoming as well.

I've heard that areas around wahoo and western Cockeye got from 6-8".
