A couple thoughts:The Indians only really like the food from the 2 Indian grocery stores (Namaste Plaza right below Dodge over 114th and Patel/Konarck just north of oak view mall) and the restaurant next door to Patel brothers grocery/Konark grocery is good. It used to be called Kurry Xpress but now it’s called Desi Bites.
indian restaurants aren’t usually authentic because 99% of your customer base isn’t Indian. They cater to what white people like, same as China buffets and Mexican places do. (and that doesn’t mean it’s not spicy, it usually just means more meat and things that Indians don’t eat as much of. Ex: white people love butter chicken, but Indians think of butter chicken like we think of a thanksgiving feast. It’s good but they cook it like that maybe twice a year.)
1. Desi Bites sounds like an Indian porn site
2. Whenever I’m in India and we go out to eat or order to the office, nobody can tell me the fucking name of any dish that we’re eating. I’ll say, “Ravi, this is really good. What is this?”
He’ll reply “It’s like a spicy tomato curry with some lentils and lamb.”
Me: “Yeah, no i get that… but if I wanted to return to this restaurant and order the same thing, what would I ask for?”
Ravi: blank stare
I love that all the Pho restaurants out there are just numbered.I'll see your James Beard award winning bakery and raise you with...wait for it..a James Beard winning Pho noodle soup restaurant right here in Orange County.

The locals who eat there probably couldn't tell you the difference between James Beard and James Bond but it is damn good soup.
