Let’s talk airline travel: What pisses you off?

Will be curious to hear whether you have more success getting upgrades on AA from TPA than Delta - circle back on this in ~5-6 months if you don’t mind

The systemwide upgrades are a nice touch and late last year they finally introduced the ability to redeem them online (previously had to call AA customer service which was ridiculous). Unfortunately it only applies to one leg of your journey if you’re connecting, so if you are going TPA-CLT-CDG as an example you’d want to choose CLT-CDG as your “systemwide upgrade” leg and then hope you get upgraded at the airport from TPA-CLT.

The real “hidden” benefit that I pray they don’t take away is the ability to get Main Cabin Extra at booking for no added costs. It essentially has the same perks as business on some flights (especially on the regional jets like the CRJ-900).

Also - the meals are truly “fine” in business - sometimes they are great and sometimes not so much. Have you had Delta’s new in-flight Shake Shack burger in business?

Early but AA is off to a strong start. FAs have been nicer on AA compared to Delta which was a pleasant surprise

Flew from Chicago to Omaha Monday. While getting off the plane, two foreigners managed to get from the last row to the exit row before I stood up to block them. They still managed to get off the plane before my wife who was sitting next to me.

AA4166 BNA-CLT today. Upgraded while on Broadway last night. Extremely hungover in the Admirals Lounge but vibes are high for this upcoming 47 min flight.

I was upgraded from Comfort + to 1st class on 2 of 4 legs on my last journey. Only had to sit in Comfort + on one leg and was already in 1st class for the other leg.

Denver. Why is the entire city of Denver such a shithole

The wife and I stayed 3 nights at a pretty cool Airbnb in Castle Rock after skiing in Keystone with our kids. It was a cool town. My sister lived in Pueblo for about 5 years and I had driven through it a ton, but never actually stopped. Neat little downtown scene. Interestingly enough, one of the best restaurants is in the Hospital in Castle Rock. The hospital is owned by the Seventh Day Adventists and they hired a chef from New York and let him do his thing with the menu. Great food and really inexpensive. They don't accept tips, since they pay their workers a normal wage, so anything you tip is donated to one of the local food banks.

My company’s hq is in Denver so I fly out every couple of months.
It’s like Omaha but bigger and shittier. But a better view. And Denver good scene sucks ass

These are some of my pet peeves:

1. Flying out of Omaha. It's seems Claude and Maude seem pretty fucking confused by what is allowed in carry on luggage. Sometimes it takes forever because of people flying for the first time.

2. People flying out from cruise ships. They always get to the airport after 9 PM for a redeye flight. If you time it wrong then you are stuck 100 people deep through security which cuts into my drinking time.

3. People who don't understand that the middle person gets both arm rests. Also people who lean back in their chairs.

4. People who get up and don't wait their turn when the plane lands.

Both my boys were born at Castle Rock hospital. The meals were great
