Injury Rumor

I misread it. My fault.

Still… if you’re upset that your nephew who’s a D2 player didn’t get a look at Nebraska you’re kind of a knob. Gotta say something when regional FCS schools didn’t offer.
Yeah. Personally I was hoping he’d take the walk on here and be the heir apparent to Cam 3 years from now. We’ll see if he gets home sick

I’m a zone guy through and through and I believe it to be a superior scheme. Huge zone read guy as well. Wisconsin just doesn’t move the needle for me and I believe part of the reason why they’ll always be a regional power and not a national one is their reluctance to mix in zone with their gap schemes.
Get what you're saying. I do think their misdirection shit is pretty great. Curious long-term how much they lean into a more pro spread passing game as I think that could really improve their talent level.

Similar thing for each of Cockeye, Minnesota and Wisconsin though. They have high floor because they really hang their hats on a couple schemes, but I do agree that it limits their upward potential.

I think we could learn a thing or two from them in the sense that we have something like 15 different blocking schemes for our OL to learn. Now, we don’t carry all 15 into a game. But if we could simplify it I think we’d see less confusion up front. @slattimer has suggested us use more tight zone like tOSU and I think it makes total sense.

Yeah, I really don't know what to pin the rushing problems on exactly. Our line yards were actually pretty good last year (but I would be interested to see what the breakdown on that between QB and RB would look like). Really think we've been pretty damn RB talent deficient the last two years.

And Mills was a gap runner rather than a zone guy.

If I had a nickel for every kid from the metro Nebraska fucked up by not offering, I'd be living on Jim's side of 132nd street

Who were some other greats?

Antaries Daniels from Northwest who had a time getting on the field at IWCC

Calvin Strong who redshirted at South Dakota - I still remember rrthusker basically telling me when I said I didn’t think he’s a P5 player that you don’t get as many yards as Calvin Strong did unless you’re a p5 guy.

Casey Sayles who ended up at Ohio
CJ Johnson of Wyoming fame
Patrick Arnold at Wyoming too.

It's way worse in basketball where I have to read about how scrubs who end up at Old Dominion are better than top 60 players or how if we just took an all metro team we'd be competing in the big ten

I’d add Andrew Wingert to that list. His dad Dan was a former player (punter), he was the Gatorade Player of the Year in CO and really, really wanted to play at Nebraska. He wound up playing for Craig at Wyoming and had a great career there. Still on an NFL roster FWIW.

You're doing it wrong. He was awesome. We're talking about the dudes who people said would be yuuuuuge misses for Nebraska and then ended up doing fuck all in college like their meager offer lists suggested
